About this listen
From the New York Times best-selling authors of Welcome to Night Vale and It Devours! and the creators of the number-one podcast comes a new novel set in the world of Night Vale and beyond.
In the town of Night Vale, there's a faceless old woman who secretly lives in everyone's home, but no one knows how she got there or where she came from...until now.
Told in a series of eerie flashbacks, the story of the Woman is revealed, as she guides, haunts and sabotages an unfortunate Night Vale resident named Craig. In the end, her dealings with Craig and her history in 19th century Europe will come together in the most unexpected and horrifying way.
Part The Haunting of Hill House, part The Count of Monte Cristo, and 100 percent about a faceless old woman who secretly lives in your home.

probably my favourite yet!
Mara Wilson is perfect as the faceless old woman the secretly lives in your house. And the story is gripping - piracy, revenge, oranges, and secret organisations.
I have enjoyed each night Vale novel, but I'd say this is my favourite. It has a different feel to it, while still very much feeling like a night Vale story.
Would definitely recommend.

Faceless old woman who live in my heart
A culmination of perfect writing, casting and performance.
Both sprawling and personal, an exciting and suprisingly emotional journey through the life and continued life autobiographied by a woman with no face.

TLDR Pro Mara Wilson Neg Unfurfilling Storyline.
I've listened to Nightvale since finding the Pilot one day while scrolling Tumbler and have enjoyed almost everything produced by the team but this book, While performed fantastically its storyline never caught my attention in the way other stories in the Nightvale multiverse have.

As pure a tale of revenge as you’re likely to find
A substantial (and welcome) departure from the standard Night Vale formula which demonstrates the talents of the authors beyond the confines of their usual style of weird fiction.

Wonderful
All three books in the series have been great. However this one, by far, blew me away! A combination of the bizaare Nighvale humour and cleverness and this meandering tale of betrayal and revenge spanning generatikns. Love love it and want more!

Thoroughly creepy and entertaining
Mara's performance as the faceless old woman is devine. Listening to her voice this "autobioraphy" was a complete pleasure and makes the audio version of this book well worth worth listening to! She has such a beautiful smooth voice to listen to that you are lulled into a calm pool of relaxation before you realise the horror of the faceless old woman's story. I loved every moment of this deep dive into the background of one of my favourite characters from Welcome to Night Vale*.
Joseph and Jeffrey never disappoint, there is action, mystery, devastation, friendship, horror, deeply thought out meaningful prose and answers to who the faceless old woman is, and why she is secretly living in your home.
*you don't need to know anything about the Welcome to Night Vale podcast to enjoy this book
