Publisher's Summary
The Expansion: Publisher's Pack includes Recon, book one, and Contact, book two.
The universe is expanding, and so is humanity’s reach.
Years after clean energy ended the world’s reliance on fossil fuels, a lull of peace encompasses all of humanity. Some think we should travel to the distant corners of the galaxy; others oppose the idea, thinking that the harnessed singularity reactors are unnatural.
When a terrorist group attacks the Lunar colony, members of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force are divided as a result of the incursion.
Years later, Lieutenant Commander Kyle Torres comes face to face with old friends, as he’s thrown into an assignment that could change everything: a reconnaissance mission with huge implications for humanity and science alike.

lengthy - needs editing
it must be difficult to attempt an epic of interspecies conflict. the set up was well done but the actual story was too laboured for me to actually enter the world. after a good start it just got a tad boring and predictable. hope the author goes on to write more erudite novels as the imagination and tech skills are there.
I'd encourage more use of an editor.

A great beginning to a series
To put it simply: A great story with interesting (if sometimes a tiny bit too simple) characters.
The sci-fi progress within the story is awesome! I didn't expect this to become at all what it did, and enjoyed the journey there, so I shall not spoil at all.
I found the ending to be rather sudden and inelegant, but it does leave me wanting more and impatient for the next instalment.
The only thing I actively disliked about this story was when the narrator did the Australian womans voice.
As an Australian myself, her voice was ridiculous.
She sounded more like a he (as opposed to the other female characters who if not introduced as female I would have guessed so in moments), and her particular accent was hardly the kind of regional accent I would expect of a woman who would go through the kind of training/career needed to become the captain of a ship.
More like a woman who is somewhat closer to being a bogan (trailer trash, white trash, other somewhat derisive comparisons to a lower socioeconomic class and uncultured person), and I certainly don't mean to use those terms offensively, but I'm sure people will understand what I mean.
Her portrayal really threw me and is the only reason the "Performance" gets a 4 not a 5.

The performance- wow!
The voice performer of this story was outstanding. I couldn’t believe it was only one person until I checked the title information. He brought all the diverse characters to life and enhanced the narrative. Wonderful work.
