Publisher's Summary
Time is running out for Ahren as he and Khara leave their companions under cover of darkness and make their way to the Eternal Empire. The Pall Cloud is spreading relentlessly, yet the full complement of 13 Paladins have still not gathered together. But the couple are finding it impossible to find a way through to the notoriously draconian and reclusive empress, and all their attempts to enlist her support in the war against the Adversary seem doomed to failure once Ahren falls into the clutches of Quin-Wa's Peace Sentinels. While his friends seek a way of evading the empress's charm net in their efforts to help, Ahren and Khara find themselves battling to stay alive.

Another Fantastic Addition
Loved this book, especially Khara’s character development, with two particularly impressive scenes in the pool and at the markets. Gildart continues to embellish the story with with brilliant narration. 😁

A Nice Shift and Progression in the Storytelling
The largest part of this book follows a bit of a different approach to the previous books, but blends nicely. The is a smooth fit with those that came before whilst still offering something new. Looking forward to the next installment.

Disappointing Left Turn
I have thoroughly enjoyed the series so far but this book in particular fell flat towards the end. Without giving any spoilers all I can say is that I see what the intention was but it felt like a constant, frustrating and meandering ramble towards the end.
However, the character development was a very welcome addition and I'm very much excited for the next book.
