About this listen
The story of a writer's singular journey - from one place to another, from the British colony of Trinidad to the ancient countryside of England, and from one state of mind to another - is perhaps Naipaul's most autobiographical work. Yet it is also woven through with remarkable invention to make it a rich and complex novel.

Prize Winning Book
I loved this book. Reminded me of E M Forster and his magnificent skills in writing of the society he analyzed and described. A great internal journey.

indepth psychological analysis of a writer
i can relate to naipaul's story of being 'thrown' into new world and feeling inferior and putting up psychological crutches to cope. He really is very perceptive and has a strong grasp of the english language. it is worth listening too and re reading a few times as it can be very dense in parts. The key takeaway is every one has problems coping in a strange land and that everyone deserves to be given a new start.
Sorry that he has passed away.
