**NOW A MAJOR PRIME TV SERIES STARRING ALAN RITCHSON**

North Carolina. New Year's Day, 1990. A soldier is found dead in a sleazy motel bed.

Jack Reacher is the officer on duty. The soldier turns out to be a two-star general.

The situation is bad enough, then Reacher finds the body of the general's wife.

This stomach-churning thriller turns back the clock to a younger Reacher, in dogtags. A Reacher who still believes in the service. A Reacher who imposes army discipline. Even if only in his own pragmatic way...

Although the Jack Reacher novels can be listened to in any order, The Enemy is 8th in the series.

'There's only one Jack Reacher. Accept no substitutes' Mick Herron

'The thing about Lee Child's books is that you can't put the damn things down. . .there's something about his writing that's addictive. The Enemy is no exception. . .Superb.' Independent on Sunday

‘Jeff Harding’s [...] narration captures Reacher’s character perfectly [...] you have to savour every minute.’ The Sunday Times

Better and better

Another great book by Lee Child on Reacher. Once again, superbly narrated by Jeff Harding. Jeff really brings the characters to life.

honestly wish they would get a new narrator. RC Bray would be epic for the role.

i just wish a new narrator would breath some life into this series. its really a hard listen with old mates voice and style.

Flash Back Time

I'm slowly working my way through Lee Child's offerings and that includes his Reacher novels. The Enemy is an important chapter of the Reacher story. Not only because it shows where some of his values come from and his desire to do the right thing, but it also highlights a darker side to Jack Reacher in his execution of justice and where it may have originated. I was shocked at the ending but not really surprised. I love the detail of the weapons and the ballistics captured in this book.

Jeff Harding, need I say more. If he's 6'5", I'm sure he's Jack Reacher. If he's not, he's a brilliant voice actor.

Listen to / read this one first

I came back to this one for my second listen having read / listened to every other Jack Reacher story at least once. I enjoyed this even better the second time around. I feel I know the main character so much better now and rate The Enemy very highly. It has so much more meaning now and puts many of the other stories into perspective. I love Lee Child's writing style and the Jack Reacher series is one of the best in modern times. I thoroughly recommend this story and all of the other 19 or so in the series. Enjoy!

Another good Reacher read

Any additional comments?

Just wanted to note that this book is out of sink in the Jack Reacher Series, this story is about Reacher when he was in the Military Police, I still enjoyed it and it filled in some of the gaps for me

Relevant

Even thou this is set in 1990 it is so relevant to our current day and the changes that are always underway with any country's military system. Very clowe to home thiw tory to me and loved it from start to finish.

JD Grant / Lee Child does it yet again.

Such a realistic story and performance- had to remind myself it is a work of fiction once or twice as I listened! Hoping this is another book which turns up as a tv series.
