About this listen
Enchantment. By Dr. Sharon Blackie’s definition, a vivid sense of belongingness to a rich and many-layered world, a profound and whole-hearted participation in the adventure of life. Enchantment is a natural, spontaneous human tendency - one we possess as children, but lose, through social and cultural pressures, as we grow older. It is an attitude of mind which can be cultivated: the enchanted life is possible for anyone. It is intuitive, embraces wonder, and fully engages the mythic imagination - but it is also deeply embodied in ecology, grounded in place and community.
Taking as her starting point the inspiration and wisdom that can be derived from myth, fairytales, and folk culture, Dr. Sharon Blackie offers a set of practical and grounded tools for enchanting our lives and the places we live, so leading to a greater sense of meaning and of belonging to the world. To live this way is to be challenged, to be awakened, to be gripped and shaken to the core by the extraordinary which lies at the heart of the ordinary.

Well thought out.
Exactly the kind of book I've been looking for. If you're looking for different ways to reconnect with nature, this is worth your time.

Soul food!
I just finished this book, and this is pure soul food. I absolutely love the way Sharon Blackie weaves myths, psychology, ecopsychology and lived personal stories in a very honest, down to earth and grounded way. Her other book "If Women Rose Rooted" was my favorite book of all time, I believe this one now is!

a Top Shelf Love
From the first chapter I was hooked. Created in the writing voice of a professor, with the heart of a cottage witch. Everything.. fantastic. So uplifting, so much inspiration, but the thing that keeps me listening over & over is the way those fantastic ideas weave themselves through my mind and seem to connect me to the world! Unlike a lot of self-help, spiritual books, I feel drawn further into the universe rather than philosophising. I absolutely recommend it to you :)

Fantastic book that will shift your perspective
I loved that the author described her history as a neuropsychologist and her journey to a more mindful life. It is well structured with impactful stories and excellent practical exercises at the end of the chapters that make you think more deeply about your life and the world around you. I have listened to it multiple times since purchasing it and think it is a very accessible introduction to seeing the magical in every day. I found the narration very soothing, and enjoyed the varying voices and accents used for different contributors quotes. I would recommend it.

Calm, we’ll paced enchantment
A listening that took me to the bog, the sky, the sea and finally through ‘The Hedge’. I loved listening to this narrators voice. It helped with the full immersive experience of the writings.

Kind of rambling
I was really excited about this book based on the blurb, but to be honest it sort of doesn’t really deliver. It’s more like a series of disjointed ramblings about kind of cool stuff the author has thought about at some point, but the overarching philosophy just isn’t there.
It jumps from telling you about cool hot tub massages to talking about some awesome folk tales and some less awesome and kind of stretched metaphors about hang gliding - but it’s sort of just a series of statements about “the world today” being out of touch with nature but didn’t really strike me with any new or fundamental insights that would change that.

Yikes
Very put off by the weird tirade the author goes on about the scientific method and the people who helped to develop it, it felt like the implication was that science is the cause of the current increase in mental illness because it somehow takes the wonder and connectedness out of life
Sagan would not approve, gonna see if I can get my credit back
