About this listen
A Grey Knights Novel
Two aspirants are recruited into the Grey Knights, and must hone their psychic talents if they are to join the hallowed and mysterious ranks of the Space Marine daemon hunters.
LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
It's a deep exploration of the Grey Knights and the events surrounding the First Armageddon War... including an appearance by the fearsome Angron, daemon primarch of the World Eaters.
THE STORY
The Grey Knights are all that stands between humanity and the ravages of Chaos. Since their secretive beginnings during the Horus Heresy, these legendary Space Marine daemon hunters have journeyed into the dark realms of the warp – and beyond – in pursuit of their supernatural enemies. Through an intensive regime of psychic training, new recruits are brought to the clandestine fortress of Titan to join the hallowed and vaunted ranks of the 666th Chapter.
More than ever, these legendary battle-brothers must be vigilant and ever ready to defend the Imperium – for the forces of Chaos are never truly defeated, and Armageddon beckons.
Written by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. Narrated by Christopher Kent. Running time 12 hours, 28 minutes (approx).

Feels like 3 books in 1
Loved every second of it, perfect story writing in 3 distinct arcs that each have their own struggles and triumphs

The best black library novel I’ve listened to.
The Emperor’s Gift was such a great story. I am
biased because I love the Grey Knights & Space Wolves but the story was so well written. Aaron Dembski-Bowden has masterfully created a novel with real characters to grow with and hope for… and a perfectly timed pace of story to maintain imperial intrigue balanced with broad scale 40K action.
Special mention should also be made of the narrator, Christopher Kent. Boy oh boy did he nail the right amount of grim dark tone to take one to the 41st millennium.
All in all, my favourite black library novel so far…and I for one, do hope (in the name
of the Emperor), for a sequel!

All round perhaps best story and performance
As others have said this may be the best 40,000 story (of many, many) I’ve read and listened to. Beautifully written. Kent’s performance remarkable.

Just Excellent
This book is really two stories.
The first half, is probably the best 40k novel you will ever read (listen too). It had elements of horror, great action, compelling story, an EPIC encounter with a Daemon Primarch...
(spoilers)....
Then for the second half, it goes into a civil war between the Inquistion and everyone else.... and I have to say I didn't enjoy this part anywhere near as much.. I thought it was all a bit stupid tbh..
The narrator is excellent, I wish he narrated more 40k books.
All in all, this is a great book, it's got good characters, good humour, an excellent first half story and great character development.
it's a shame the 2nd half is just so different to the first.

Excellent story and brings you into the world
Very well written story to put the grey knights into perspective and the ruthlessness of the inquisitors.

Top 5 Black Library books
ADB is back! There's not a spare sentence in this book that isn't part of the story. Excellent narrator too!

Unexpectedly awesome!
Another ADB classic. Really wasn't expecting the type of story that came out of this book, but was pleasantly surprised at how captivated I was. Now I need a Hyperion model!
