About this listen
Imperial law enforcer Amaranthe Lokdon is good at her job: She can deter thieves and pacify thugs, if not with a blade, then by toppling an eight-foot pile of coffee canisters onto their heads. But when ravaged bodies show up on the waterfront, an arson covers up human sacrifices, and a powerful business coalition plots to kill the emperor, she feels a tad overwhelmed.
Worse, Sicarius, the empire's most notorious assassin, is in town. He's tied in with the chaos somehow, but Amaranthe would be a fool to cross his path. Unfortunately, her superiors order her to hunt him down. Either they have an unprecedented belief in her skills...or someone wants her dead.

Interesting tale
Sometimes it was hard to work out who was saying what as Starla often didn't give distinct enough voices for the characters.
The story premise interesting, reminds me of a number of con-movies I've seen. But set in a fantasy world.
I felt that the magic aspect was going to come out more however it didn't ever seem to happen -- may hap in future novels they will touch on it?
The basic plan that they had was extremely far fetched and I don't ever believe that anyone would have agreed to it.
But I have bought the second book and I'm planning on listening to it next.

Steampunk world
A light mystery with some thriller undertones. The story is set in a diverse world that blends steam punk with some magic as well. Fun characters and a more balanced and realistic protagonist helps the flow of the story.

Average Story and Poor Narration*
The writing was very simplistic and not engaging. Also the narration was very bad.
*However, only read 1/3 of book before I decided to put it down
