About this listen

As a princess in the impoverished kingdom of Delantria, it’s Aldari’s job to look pretty, speak little, and marry a prince.

Studying mathematics and writing papers on economic theory in an effort to fix her people’s financial woes? Her father has forbidden it. With war on the horizon, they must focus on the immediate threat.

Reluctantly, Aldari agrees to marry a prince in a neighboring kingdom to secure an alliance her people desperately need. All is going to plan until the handsome elven mercenary captain hired to guard her marriage caravan turns into her kidnapper. His people are in trouble, and he believes she has the knowledge to help.

But with an invasion force approaching Delantria, Aldari’s own people need her. She must do everything in her power to escape the elves and make it to her wedding in time.

Never mind that her kidnapper is witty and clever and offers her a challenge that intrigues her mind even as his easy smile intrigues her heart….

Aldari can’t let herself develop feelings for him. To fall in love and walk away from her wedding would mean the end of her kingdom and everyone she cares about.

High Romantic Fantasy with every element there

loved it. why because this story meant to be listened to. Narrators who draw out emotion, each pause and breath intake, as was done in this book is magic. True character development which can be tough to deliver in one book for Fantasy epic. but right I want more of these characters. Id love to see this story as a film. Action is paced, pensive and pulsing. The romance is developed and aligns to thinking and feeling as restrictions and cultural pressures of time their all the characters lives harshness of that life i.e ethics and treatings others as equals and with respect is still evolving. For me this narrator was so good easing me into the story and holding my interest. would relisten. Gosh I hope theres other Elf books coming. Why Elf have always been my no.1 Fav but theres not enough quality reads. My mind is still spinning could Aldari&Hawk have more enemies yet to face and what about Shydena,Prince Erathian,Theli,SetVic,
Hysithea,Prince Xerik... please add a book series.

enjoyable listen

I really enjoyed this book. As a maths enthusiast myself I got a kick out of the main character's love of numbers and economics.

Action packed, romance, smart heroine, fun story.

I'll be looking for more from this author

Disney princess meets Elf.

I was so intrigued by the premise of a smart female main character, but the economic theory didn't give her any depth, nor add to the world building. The story would probably appeal to a younger teen audience.

Highly Recommended

I really enjoyed this one and Lindsay Buroker is one of my favourite authors, ive enjoyed many of her book series. As far as this one goes, all the characters are really likeable, especially the main characters as they made me laugh often and the story was really quite different for this genre. The story is full of excitement and action throughout the whole book and i listened to the whole 12 hours in one lot which is a shame as its over now and i had it in my mind that it was book 1 in a series and i really wish it was bit sadly this is a standalone novel. The narrators accent isn't quite what I'm used to but I soon got used to it and just enjoyed the book. 5 Stars
