About this listen
Connor Fitzgerald is the CIA’s most deadly assassin. On the brink of his retirement, he is sent to Russia for one last hit. Except this isn’t just another job. After a fall out between the CIA and the White House over the assassination of a prominent Colombian politician, his boss is now using the Russian Mafia to cover her tracks.
Fitzgerald is not going to St Petersburg to kill, he’s going to die.
A page-turning, political thriller about espionage and betrayal by the acclaimed British writer, Jeffrey Archer.
The Eleventh Commandment is narrated by Michael Brandon, most famous for playing James Dempsey in the 1980’s television crime drama, Dempsey and Makepeace. His extensive theatre career spans Broadway and the West End, where he played Jerry Springer in Jerry Springer: the Opera for the National Theatre.
Jeffrey Archer is a bestselling British author and former politician. He was educated at Oxford and went on to become a Member of Parliament, the deputy chair of the Conservative Party as well as sitting in the House of Lords. His political career ended in scandal and he turned to writing, where he has been published in over 250 countries.
He is perhaps most famous for the Clifton Chronicles and his blockbuster Kane and Abel which was number one on the New York Time’s Bestseller list and inspired a popular miniseries starring Peter Strauss and Sam Neill.
After he was imprisoned for perjury in 2001, he wrote his highly acclaimed non-fiction series, Prison Diaries - Hell, Purgatory and Heaven - which were inspired by his experiences and loosely structured around Dante’s Inferno.

My first Jeffrey Archer
My first Jeffrey Archer. Too much politics for me. There were moments of strong emotion along with lots of twists. 3 stars because there were times I didn't like the outcome of some situations. 4 stars because the book stayed with me for days after I had finished.

The Eleventh Commandment
Loved the story but unfortunately the readers voice did not do that many voice characters. I could never tell when the women said anything it was rather confusing. That’s what made it not so good otherwise the story was engaging.

Twists & turns!
I really enjoyed this story. I admired several of the main characters, which helps! I appreciated the different slant on the CIA. I found it easy to listen to. The twists & turns kept me engaged to the end. Great escapism.

Unputdownable
One of his best. I found this book to be a complete page Turner. It’s a long time since I’ve enjoyed a book as much.

Another good book
I enjoyed this story as I do JA's books. But sorry, the narrator is so hard to listen to, it spoilt the book for me.

Go to the top of the list!!
One of the best books for top class entertainment! Loved the twist created by the Russian President but of course glad it failed. I was never fooled for a second that Connor was dead though. The big giveaway was the continuation of his wife, daughter and her boyfriend in the narrative.

Unfinished
This is the first time in all my years as a subscriber I could not finish a book by one of my favourite authors. The narrator was unbearably monotonous and had no skills in the art of narration.
