About this listen
What if living a lie gives you the life you want to live?
Mary Masterton is a desperate woman. Facing the advances of loathsome suitor she can’t imagine marrying, she is short on choices. She convinces a handsome stranger, the victim of a head injury, that they are engaged. Left with no memory of his previous life, the man has no reason to doubt her. The man’s signet ring is the only clue to his true identity as the Duke of Avalon. Determined to reclaim his past, he begs Mary to accompany him on a journey to track down the meaning of the ring. Once more Mary finds herself in a hopeless situation: help the man she has come to love and risk losing him forever, or keep him in the dark and live a blissful lie.…

Love this period drama
A nice sweet story with a little suspense, tension & well done narration. I really enjoyed this one and it wasn’t long drawn out.

Good story with a sweet romance
I enjoyed this story. The main characters were good people and those that weren’t were adequately horrible. The plot developed nicely enough and concluded with a happy ending as abrupt as it was.
I am in two minds about the narration. Susan has a lovely clear reading voice, however, there’s often a pattern to the way she expresses non-dialogue sentences that i find distracting. It’s a shame as I’d enjoy her performances and the audiobooks all the more better if her style was expressive like Mary Jane Wells. Nevertheless, this is a nice easy audiobook to listen to and I recommend.
