Mills & Boon presents The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare
‘I am a Duke. I’m not asking you to marry me. I am offering to marry you. It’s a different thing entirely.’
When the Duke of Ashbury returns from war scarred, he realises he needs an heir – which means he needs a wife! When Emma Gladstone, a vicar's daughter turned seamstress visits wearing a wedding dress, he decides on the spot that she'll do.
His terms are simple:
- They will be husband and wife by night only.
- No lights, no kissing.
- No questions about his battle scars.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she's pregnant with his heir, they need never share a bed again.
But Emma is no pushover. She has secrets and some rules of her own:
- They will have dinner together every evening.
- With conversation.
- And teasing.
- Last, and most importantly… Once she's seen the man beneath the scars, he can't stop her from falling in love…

Fantastic story of a war hero and parsons daughter
Well written and read with heart and feeling. Both author and narrative was of excellent quality. The story was diverse and interesting. I could not imagine how the hero lived with the pain and scars left by burns.

Witty sarcasm made this enjoyable
I liked both characters sense of wit, Emma's group of friends and Ashes butler and young apprentice all made the story comical and endearing. I did find the adult themes a bit of a shock at first LMAO. The only thing I was slightly disappointed in was the missed opportunity in the epilogue to know what became of Emma's friends.

A very humorous story
This is a story about two people who had endured hardships. One through war injuries and another through being rejected and cast out.
Some of the characterisations were over the top, which brought some great humour into their relationship.

Fun Regency romance and a great narrator
First Tessa Dare book I’ve read and I enjoyed every minute, so much that I downloaded the other 2 x Girl Meets Duke books in this series. Great characters and unique stories and quite a few laugh out loud moments in all three. I truly enjoyed Mary Jane Wells narration of all three - especially the male hero’s, I’m only disappointed she hasn’t narrated more Tessa Dare books. Not sure why another reviewer didn’t like her I thought she was awesome!

Absolutely LOVED it 💘 Deserving of the awards❤💜❤
What a wonderful story!! I loved Emma, she was such a beautiful, strong, loving character who wouldn't give up on Ash! And Ash was just the man she needed in her life.
I loved Ash too. His life after the war broke my heart and I was so glad Emma broke through his defenses and what a life with love would like.
I don't think I have ever laughed so hard, and enjoyed recency romance this much! I think this will forever be a favourite. I can see how it won awards in 2018.
Mary Jane Wells did a fabulous job narrating this story.
I wish I could rate this more than 5 stars.
