About this listen
Now a major motion picture starring Eric Bana as Aaron Falk.
It hasn't rained in Kiewarra for two years. Tensions in the farming community become unbearable when three members of the Hadler family are discovered shot to death on their property. Everyone assumes Luke Hadler committed suicide after slaughtering his wife and six-year-old son. Federal police investigator Aaron Falk returns to his hometown for the funerals and is unwillingly drawn into the investigation. As suspicion spreads through the town, Falk is forced to confront the community that rejected him 20 years earlier. Because Falk and his childhood friend Luke Hadler shared a secret, one which Luke's death threatens to unearth....

"You will feel the heat, taste the dust and blink into the glare. The Dry is a wonderful crime novel that shines a light into the darkest corner of a sunburnt country." (Michael Robotham)
"A suspenseful tale of sound and fury as riveting as it is horrific.” (Publishers Weekly)

Great debut novel
A great debut novel interesting characters and you can really feel the heat of the sun and the dust from the drought by her wonderful use of language. If I have a criticism it's that things are tied up too neatly at the end if I say why it with spoil it suffice to say don't let it put you off its an excellent read.

Sad it's finished!
I usually take a couple of weeks to listen to a book. I finished The Dry in 2 days. I think Jane Harper is a very talented writer and I look forward to reading her future books.
I also loved the narration Steve Shanahan voice
was so pleasant to listen to I hope he narrates Jane's next book.

A brilliant read. Aussie classic.
Distinctive Aussie characters that resonates with anyone familiar with all outback towns. Great story and perfectly put together.
The narrator was perfect in every way but except one, my only criticism was his pace between past and present. It got confusing with no discernible pauses. Even a 'now', 'then' thrown in would have made this one small factor a seamless read. Recommend fo r sure.

Intriguing story!
I really enjoyed this story set in an Aussie country town. I didn't pick the culprit and especially the reason for the crime! Great listening I say!
