Publisher's Summary
The Divided Mind traces the history of psychosomatic medicine, including Freud's crucial role as well as his failures. Most important, it describes the psychology of the human condition that is responsible for the broad range of psychosomatic illness. Dr. Sarno believes that the failure of medicine's practitioners to recognize and appropriately treat mind-body disorders has produced public health and economic problems of major proportions in the United States. One of the most interesting and important aspects of psychosomatic phenomena is the fact that knowledge and awareness of the process clearly have healing powers.
Critic Reviews
"Dr. Sarno brilliantly explores the chasm between the conscious and unconscious minds, where psychosomatic ailments originate." (Mehmet Oz, M.D., co-author of You: The Owner's Manual)

A life saver
Dr Sarno’s work flies in the face of modern medicine, yet it’s intuitive nature and unmatched efficacy leaves no doubt on it’s success. I lived with relentless and debilitating chronic pain for 5 years and it pushed me to the point of suicide. Within days of reading his work I was nearly pain free. Spread the word

Okay
I liked HEALING BACK PAIN much more, but there were some challenging and interesting thoughts in this one. I particularly liked the interview with Dr Sarno on the last track.

Best book ever written on pain management
This book is about how to manage your pain and at worst significantly reduce it. All you have to do is believe what you are reading is true.
If only I had discovered this book before spending thousands of dollar trying to find answers from "common western world medical practices"
Thank you Dr. Sarno. I am finally on my way to recovery.

Highly recommend
The book digs deeper into psychology theory and uses case studies to demonstrate mindbody conditions. I’ve found it very helpful on my own journey and so glad to have discovered Dr Sarno’s work
