But although Livia loves Marnie, she’s secretly glad she won’t be at the party. She needs to tell Adam something about their daughter but she’s waiting until the party is over so they can have this last happy time together.
Adam wants everything to be perfect for Livia so he’s secretly arranged for Marnie to come home and surprise her on her birthday. During the day, he hears some terrible news. He needs to tell Livia, because how can the party go on? But she’s so happy, so excited – and the guests are about to arrive.

Well written but hard to finish
I’m this is well written and the first two thirds is suspenseful but I was unable to listen to it all because of the subject matter.

100/10
I loved this. The suspense, the altering perspectives, the performances.m, the drama, the pain. I love books that truly make me FEEL. The ones where shit is hitting the fan so much you have to keep going. This was it for me. Loved it.

Oh hell
This is written by one of my favourite authors and I’ve been looking forward to this book for ages. I’ve read over half I think but have to stop. It’s too upsetting. Funny how I can cope with murders but family’s dramas floor me. I suggest you read it though.

Almost 3 stars
To make something clear Yellow roses DON’T smell, especially those from a florist. I know this because yellow roses are my favourite flower and I buy a bunch every so often. And now that I have said one thing that bothered me, let me proceed with the review of the audiobook.
Narration was especially good for both characters.
This is the first book I have read from this author. Halfway through we have learned a few secrets that each spouse is keeping from the other. I have to say that it is disappointing how this couple has so many secrets from each other when they seem to be so happy together. I don’t believe there is a good reason to keep important things from your partner. Is this the reality of this world? if so I don’t want any part of it.
If you have read other reviews you may know that the book’s chapters are from the main characters perspective and are interchanging. I found that Adam’s chapters after the first 1/3 of the book said absolutely nothing, so I skimmed it and feel I haven’t missed anything.
This book is about lies, secrets, affairs and continuous inner monologues. Half of the book was not necessary and in my opinion did not add to the story. However it is a book filled with emotion especially towards the end. Livia’s character may be a bit shallow at times but develops more as the book ends. The last few chapters are very well written and almost make up for the rest of the book. That said, I don’t think I will be reading another book from the same author. Happy reading.

Couldn’t get far with this
The narration of the male character was so unendurably boring that I gave up on this audiobook earlier than I ever have.
Can’t return it unfortunately as it is over a year since I purchased it. Glad I only spent $2.99.

Frustrating
I think the circumstances were too far fetched in this story. I felt exhausted by the relentless keeping of secrets between the characters and I think in reality all would’ve been revealed much earlier. I was shouting in the end “just tell her!” The narrators were very good.

Aptly Named
The title says it all. A cautionary tale of a couple's dilemma created when certain information is withheld, secrets kept and lines of communication postponed, not clarified or misconstrued. Terrific narration for the two protagonists.

dilemma indeed!
I loved this, even when the anguish seemed prolonged. Having two narrators was wonderful. The story reaches a conclusion which so often doesn't happen, thanks for that AB Paris. I look forward to reading more of your work.
