About this listen
Dishonoured and ashamed, the ton's scandalous darling, "Beau" the Marquess of Beaumont, is forced to flee England to escape debtor's prison.
After a chance encounter, it appears Miss Millicent Sparrow is his only remaining friend, however unlikely.
Miss Sparrow lives up to her name. Damaged and terrified by her cousin's violent abuse, Milly is used to being overlooked and prefers it that way, until the desperation of her bleak world is gilded by rakishly handsome Beau's extraordinary friendship.
Miss Sparrow’s lively letters help Beau through his banishment and when his father dies suddenly and Beau inherits the Dukedom, he seeks out his little bird. To his shock he finds a woman in despair and, moved by pity, he offers her the protection of his name by marriage.
But Milly becomes impossible to overlook, and the more Beau needs his wife, the less interested she seems in her gorgeous husband.
For this rake, getting a woman's attention has never been so complicated.

From love salvation and redemption is found!❤💜❤
After book 3 I was highly anticipating this book. I fear my expectations may have been too high. I found myself frustrated with Milly at times as to how she behaved with the hero and I guess her lack of faith in his words and actions but maybe after her treatment growing up I'm being too harsh.
As for Beau, from love he finds salvation and redemption. It was really I great transformation to listen too.
I so pleased Sebastian and Georgiana from book 3 made an appearance in this book. A shame Celeste and Alex from book 2 weren't given an appearance. Hopefully we will see more of all couples in further books.
And those last 2 hours were a rollercoaster of emotions.
All in all a great a addition to the series.
Philip Battley did a pretty good job with the narration and I do like that he has consistently kept the same voices for characters who make repeat appearances!
