About this listen
Introducing your new crime thriller fix: Bristol detective DS George Cross, champion of the outsider, the voiceless and the dispossessed.
DS George Cross can be rude, difficult and awkward with people. But his unfailing logic and dogged pursuit of the truth means his conviction rate is the best on the force. So when his police colleagues dismiss the death of a man as a squabble among Bristol's homeless community, Detective Sergeant George Cross is not convinced.
Who was the unknown man whose weather-beaten body is discovered on Clifton Downs? Did the tragedy that led to a life on the streets also lead to his death?
As he delves into the dead man's past, Cross becomes convinced that to catch this killer, he needs to solve a cold case murder from years before. A murder that someone has got away with for 15 years....

Great story Excellent Narration
It was an mystery story, with an interesting twist. The Narrator was excellent and did the story justice.

Loved this book
Compelling story. It flowed very well. The author described the complexities of living with Aspergers in a thoughtful and insightful way. The narration was excellent.

Very entertaining
A good story line. Not as predictable as most. But I mostly enjoyed the characters. DS Cross was delightful. As was Ray, Otto and Alice. You just know there is a lot more to find out about them and although the case is well wrapped up I still want to find out more about each of them. The narrator was excellent. I don’t like ones that do different voices for different characters. There were no romantic or erotic scenes which I also prefer. Or any of the egotistical‘don’t you know who I am?’ rubbish you find in a lot of detective novels.

All round good book.
Complex storyline along with real time/life references and a great depth in characters. George Cross's character is interesting and I appreciate how the author uses his main character to help educate on the complexities of someone with Asperger's syndrome/autism. So much so that I am going straight on to the next book.

Excellent read,
Following DI Cross manoeuvring thru not only the case/s to solve, but navigating thru his difficulty interacting with anyone. Looking forward to the next in series.

Interesting concept
Having a main character as a detective with Asbergers has it's own sub plot with some insight into the reactions and restrictions of daily life which Asbergers people have to navigate. These insights are tucked neatly into the story without jarring the main plot of the book. Very entertaining read. Now for book 2.

Addictive
I have really enjoyed this series and The Dentist is no exception. I use my audio books while walking and find myself annoyed by traffic noise and the like. Hard to pause when I get home. I even find myself being a bit "DS Cross like" over the rest of the day. Sullivan's characters are real and complex. Highly recommended.

The Dentist
A great story that had me thinking he did it, no, he did. The need to know who killed who was killing me.

A little different..
An interesting take on the usual detective novel. Thoughtfully written with occasional touches of humour. Beautifully read. Most enjoyable.

Really good, thoroughly enjoyed
Can’t usually be bothered with police procedure type stories but this one was an easy listen. I felt empathy with Cross and saw how superfluous so much daily banter is. Super intelligent with great powers of deduction he was able to buck the political situations and get on with the task in hand. Will look for other books with Cross featuring.
