About this listen
Alex Sheppard flies to the Demonic Games, hoping that he and his friends Malik and Tissa can do the impossible and achieve victory. Almost 400 players are invited to the Games, the best of the best from all walks of Dis. Champions of the arena and the battlefields, gryphon races and pet battles; the very best craftspeople and grand masters of their professions.... All of them await the arrival of Scyth the Class-A Threat, who must now prove his worth without his divine abilities to help him.

What a ride!
Oh man, this is probably the best in the series so far. Be warned, it's kind of a side quest. But it's a GOOD one - had me on the edge of my seat for the entire ride.
Basic story without any spoilers is that Alex needs to enter the Demonic Games in order to further his quest from the Sleepers. Everything gets reset to level one, everyone hates him and he doesn't have any of his super powers. I felt like the author was playing around with this story, doing almost a 'what-if' scenario about what Alex would do if he had to start again. And it worked!
It's a fun book. I laughed so hard at some of the antics earlier in the book, when his character is nerfed but he's still kicking goals through ingenuity and desperate moves. There *were* a couple of Deus Ex Machina moments but nothing that threw me out of the story, and everything was in the spirt of telling a good story, so I didn't mind.
All in all, if you've come this far in the story, it's worth grabbing this as you'll enjoy it. If you're coming in new to the series, I'd recommend grabbing the box set of books 1-4 instead.
