About this listen
Three times they tried to kill her. Then they hired a professional. She hired Riyria.
When the last member of the oldest noble family in Avryn is targeted for assassination, Riyria is hired to foil the plot.
Three years have passed since the war-weary mercenary Hadrian and the cynical ex-assassin Royce joined forces to start life as thieves for hire. Things have gone well enough until they receive the odd assignment to prevent a murder. Now they must venture into a forgotten corner of southern Avryn - a place whose history predates the empire. As usual, challenges abound as they try to anticipate the moves of an unknown assassin before it's too late.
But that's not their only problem. The countess of Dulgath has a dark secret she's determined to keep hidden. Then there's the little matter of Riyria's new employer...the Nyphron Church.
From the best-selling author of The Riyria Revelations comes the third installment of The Riyria Chronicles. Although part of a series, it's designed to thrill both new listeners and Riyria veterans wishing to reunite with their favorite rogues.

good but not as good
all in all still very good writing and a good performance
but because its less of prequal and more of a stand alone story i was sort of put off. compared to the first 2 ryira chronicles where they are prequals to revelations. i didnt feel like i cared about any of the new characters.
again all in all still very enjoyable

A magical place
This is a mystery to be solved and our Riyria heroes are the men for the job! It was interesting to read about Royce discovering who he was racially and also a thrill to have someone other than Gwen be interested in him - equally thought-provoking to read about Hadrian falling for a redhead who is not a princess. Our heroes are protecting a mysterious and magical character and I have to say that it was good to read the Empyre series to learn about her origins and how she got here! Well linked!

Great story and excellent narration
This was a great stand alone novel which at the same time integrates more of the important background elements of the two main characters. The elements of mystery and of the past meld cleverly for a great story. The writing as always is exceptional. The narrator is superb.

Brings Life to Traditional Fantasy Format
Brilliant narration that brought life to a well told story. These characters are fun, have depth and are part of a well organised world.
