About this listen

The Daymakers were the hottest alt-rock band since the nineties, the masked members making fans swoon at the very thought of who might be hiding under the skull masks. Known only by their stage names—Royal, Hero, Poet and Knight—their real identities were a carefully held secret.

I was third-generation white trash who had no value to society. That was a direct quote from my guidance counselor, by the way. She wasn't wrong, not really. My mom had Oded, and my dad was in prison. I had no one and nothing.

Our paths should never have crossed. But by a weird twist of fate—and the flying fists of my ex-boyfriend—I ended up in the wrong place at the right time. Hiding from my ex beneath a tour bus, I was a convenient solution to an ongoing problem for the tour company.

They needed their band members to stop screwing random groupies and risking the anonymity which brought in millions of dollars for both the band and the label.

I needed to get the hell away from LA and earn enough money to have a fresh start.

I was taking back my future, and if that meant going on tour across the country as a glorified toy for the pleasure of some masked rockstars, then it was my choice.

Unfortunately, the demons of my past werent done with me yet.

THE DAYMAKERS is a standalone why choose, rockstar romance. This book contains sensitive topics. Trigger warnings are available on the author's website.

Fantastic rockstar why-choose romance

Format: 🎧 Audiobook 🎧/ 📱 eBook 📱
Narrators: Alexis Paige, James Cassidy, Grayson Owens and Theo Sinclair
Style: Multi-cast duet

There's something about listening to this as an audiobook as opposed to reading it that hits harder, and makes you connect with the characters more. I don't know if it's because of the freaking fantastic casting choices made by SparksFly and McGinty, or whether it's just that amazing McGinty writing coming to life in general, but I was absolutely obsessed with listening to this one.

Charlotte's story of escaping Tom and finding solace with a masked band - I never thought it would be something that I would love as much as I did, but call me obsessed because that's what I now am. Each member of The Daymakers - Royal, Knight, Hero and Poet - are all beautifully unique and distinct, and you certainly could not have a functioning poly relationship without one of them. Then throw in Shep and a cast of amazing side characters - I'm looking at you, Helen - and you have not only a fantastically spicy, romantic, healing story, but it's filled with found family, banter, and twists that I did not see coming.

The narration. As I said above, this was perfectly cast. Paige brings a beautiful voice to Charlotte, portraying her fears and her emotions so well, and bringing such great depth to her. The duet style narration had her bouncing off her co-stars - Cassidy (Royal and Shep), Owens (Poet and Knight) and Sinclair (Hero, Tom) - worked beautifully, and each male voice actor added in their own twist to the characters; each one had a distinct voice, even when the cast was only three people. I was enraptured by their narration, and even though I knew the end of the book was coming, I wanted more. I could honestly listen to these four actors together all day.

This will definitely be an audiobook I'll double back and listen to over and over again.

Loved it!

Wow easy to listen to spicy why choose rock star romance, narrators are awesome. Touched on abuse from her ex and childhood trauma but not hugely triggering.
