Excellent story incorporating the pandemic in the timeline
This is the second book I’ve listened to which incorporated the pandemic in the background. I was pleasantly surprised at how engaged I was by the plot and characters and couldn’t stop listening. As a Victorian with lockdown fatigue this did not trigger any unpleasant memories, and I’m sure those who know Sydney will enjoy the local references.

Fantastic audio book
I love the narration! This book was fantastic- well written and engaging. I couldn’t stop listening to it. Aimee is fantastic in narrating books. She changes her voice for the characters. I will listen to all of the books she narrates. Highly recommend

Great Aussie audiobook
I loved this short Australian audio book. The story was great, and simple. Highlighted one of the greatest issues with the elderly and their children. definitely recommend.

Just when you think it's over....it's not
Really enjoyed this story, a simple story, but told so beautifully. There was an almost whimsical feel to the story-telling, the narration was great, I really felt like I could see the characters as they were described.
With Caroline Overington, I don't need to ask myself if this sounds like something I'd enjoy, I read it anyway. My only problem is what to read next - she's a hard act to follow!

Interesting storyline
I found interesting on many levels, from the twists and suspense to the realities of living alone away from family.
The characters were believable and it was well narrated.

Nearly gave up on this!
About 1/4 through I did nearly give up, it appearing to be cliched, predictable (lonely old man about to be scammed by a long lost grand-daughter) and with the oh so topical coronavirus a bit of an artefact, an empty shell.
But I persisted, encouraged by the superb narration of Aimee Horne, and the middle did improve as the family dynamics with his guilt-ridden daughter emerged.
But the ending despite the predictable plot twist, was too pat.
Weak story but saved by the narration, so still quite enjoyed listening to it in these lonely COVID-19 nights.
