Publisher's Summary
Six months ago Harry Bosch left the LAPD before they could fire him and then hired maverick defense attorney Mickey Haller to sue the department for forcing him out. Although it wasn't the way he wanted to go, Harry has to admit that being out of the game has its benefits.
Until Mickey asks him to help on one of his cases, and suddenly Harry is back where he belongs, right in the centre of a particularly puzzling murder mystery.
The difference is this time Harry is working for the defense, aiming to prevent the accused, Leland Foster, from being convicted. And not only does the prosecution seem to have a cast-iron case, but having crossed over to 'the dark side', as his former colleagues would put it, Harry is in danger of betraying the very principles he's lived by his whole career.
Read by the star of Bosch, Titus Welliver.

A short sharp and solid Bosch outing
Didn’t know what they were going to do with Bosch but Michael does it again another riveting outing.

A good story read by a fantastic Narrator
I liked the story and reasonably average complexity. I wouldn't call it a cliff hanger but it was intriguing and enjoyable enough to want to keep listening. I was even more impressed by the narrator, who could jump from one character to another with ease. The characters sounded like truly different people, yet it was all the one narrator. The only thing I found slightly annoying at times was the gravely voice got a little bit too gravely (almost that forced 'vocal fry' sound). However that's more my personal view. As maybe a gravely voice is well suited for a crime novel.
That said I will be definitely be looking for this Narrator, Titus Welliver again, he was awesome!

Good but not gripping
Not one of Connelly’s best plots/narratives - nevertheless it’s better than 90% of the paperback crime novels out there.
Titus Welliver saves it from mediocrity 👍

Bosch as Bosch 5*
Top 3 Michael Connelly book in the Bosch series! As other reviews have stated, it’s a can’t put down story from the opening line!
