great second book following first
The series maintains it's energy and interesting twists in this second volume, I look forward to the continuation of the story and how the characters develop

I liked it but feel a little conflicted
This is a very fine adventure. it took a while to like because I thought there was only one protagonist and it kept switching to other characters, one which I didn't like too much. But further into the story, I accepted they're as much a part of the story and did not mind too much afterwards.
I've listened to this author's Cradle series and have liked it a lot. I also liked the narrator's performance there. He does a very good performance here, too. Unfortunately, the voices he does here resembles too many of the characters in the other series and it takes me out of the story a little. Also, the narrator's more growly voices tend to get a little unintelligible sometimes that I've preferred to read the ebook over the audiobook.
The magic system here is quite a new take and very entertaining to learn more about it.
Anyway, I'm very happy to read this and will continue with the next. The pace is quite fast and find it interesting that the next book will be ending this trilogy. It feels like it has potential for a longer series but to know this would be ending in just one more book makes it extra interesting. Can't wait to read it.

Good sequel
Enjoyable sequel. Sticks to the same ground as the original. The performance was again solid.
