About this listen

One sunny August afternoon, the residents of Cedar Close throw their annual summer barbecue. Children play in the cherry-tree lined street, tables are laden with food and the wine is flowing. For Laurie Mills, it’s her first time meeting the neighbours. And it’s the first time she discovers her husband, Robert, is having an affair.

Cedar Close has always been a nice place to live - a quiet suburban street where everyone looks out for one another and bad things don’t happen.

Until late one evening, when Robert Mills is found dead in his bedroom.

Downstairs, in their beautiful kitchen, his wife, Laurie, sits alone in the dark with her head in her hands.

She can’t remember the last few hours, but she knows she didn’t kill Robert.

The trouble is, no-one believes her....

An utterly gripping thriller about the dark secrets that lie behind closed doors. Perfect for fans of JP Delaney’s The Girl Before and Gone Girl, The Couple on Cedar Close will keep you listening late into the night.

FANTASTIC READ

Absolutely loved this audio book! Especially the narrator James Lailey - The best narrator of a story I have ever heard, brilliant.

Loved every minute

Great story from beginning to end. It is very well narrated with excellent expression. Kept interested throughout each chapter. Although, overuse of the word 'diabolical'.

Enjoyable - I do like this series.

An easy & interesting book to read,
I guessed who the serial murderer was & their connections.
The characters were interesting and the main characters are developing well in this series

Crazy twists and turns

An incisive study of human nature, some of it ugly but oh so necessary to the plot.
Let yourself drift on the current that will slowly but surely carry you to toward some mind boggling revelations.

Really enjoyed this

I was on tenterhooks hoping that the culprit would be found. Really well paced and read. My only regret is that the author had to use so many US words when the novel is set in England, such as ‘apartment’ instead of ‘flat’. Surely American readers can cope with some words of which the meaning is easily inferred.

Interesting story, but full of inconsistencies

An interesting listen. The narrator does a good job. The story flows but is not real life. How could police suspect a skinny weak woman can overcome people much fitter than her and manage to kill them? How are the police allowed to intimidate and use leading questions while interrogating? I found it annoying.

Good story, engaging and well written

I did guess the culprit early on in the story however I enjoyed it enough to listen until the end.
Not overly gory or sensational so an easy listen.
Narrator was excellent.

Predicable but enjoyed it

This was the second book that I had listened to from this author. Thank goodness it was less explicit than the first but still found the foul language hard to listen to. I picked the killer very early on but listened anyway. The narrator was very good and I will listen to book three.
