The premise of the story is ok but it felt tedious and cliched. It feels like the result when we try to combine our own life experiences with an ordinary story idea.

Spectacular!
I’m sitting at home alone it’s Father’s Day and my kids are at their dads. I’ve had surgery two days ago and can go nowhere and do very little so it seemed as good a time as any to devour The Couple Upstairs. Unfortunately my post General anaesthesia brain couldn’t focus on words on a page so Audible has come to the rescue. With my two dogs asleep at my feet I have listened to this incredible book from beginning to end in a single day. Having lived in Coogee In my early 20s and experienced some of the themes in my own life it’s felt like I was transported right into the story. This is spectacular writing Holly, congratulations!

brilliant writing
loved this story! was great right from the start. the descriptions and language all so accurate and nostalgic from 2 different stages of life yet not so different too.

Another wonderful Holly Wainright book!
I enjoyed this book so so much! Holly is such a wonderful storyteller. I found I couldn’t put it down! Definitely recommend.

Couldn’t stop listening
I love when I find a book that I just can’t put down or stop listening to however they can be few and far between. This one had me. It’s gripping and beautifully written. It explores some heavy themes in such a relatable way. Highly highly recommend.
