About this listen
This audiobook features an exclusive conversation between the author and narrator.
'Warm, profound, and expertly told . . . This is one of those special books that will leave a handprint on your heart.' Emma Brodie, author of Songs in Ursa Major
In her work as a 'death doula', Clover Brooks ushers people peacefully through their last days, collecting their final words into three notebooks: ADVICE, CONFESSIONS and REGRETS.
But Clover spends so much time with the dying that she's forgotten how to live . . .
Can her clients' hard-won wisdom - and the inspiring love story of a spirited old woman named Claudia - show Clover the way to a happy ending?
After all, what's the point of giving someone a beautiful death if you can't give yourself a beautiful life?
'What a beautiful story . . . This book will be one that I remember for a long time, and it's a story that we can all learn something from.' Ruth Hogan, author of The Keeper of Lost Things
'I couldn't put this book down . . . a tender, charming delight, perfect for anyone who loves The Authenticity Project or Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.' K J Dell'Antonia, author of The Chicken Sisters

Well written and narrated
This is a beautifully written and narrated book, with many life lessons suggested throughout and elegantly finished off. It has motivated me to find out more about what is involved with becoming a death doula.
Very much looking forward to Mikki Brammer’s next book.

A deep and enjoyable book
This was easy to listen to but some deep reflection points too. A great book and the narration is the best I’ve heard yet.

Brilliant story and great narrator
The story is just wonderful and cleverly weaves together past and present with the timeless themes of what makes us human - love and connection. For those of us who are not especially sentimental, there is nothing corny here!

Pleasant but a bit dull
Audible recommended this book to me based on another I had read and loved. I have no idea why the two were seen as similar. This was a pleasant listen but didn’t ever really engage.

This book will stay with me for a long time and possible change my career trajectory!! Can not recommend highly enough!
Meaningful. Poignant. Refreshingly not predictable. Beautifully constructed. Superbly narrated. Deeply moving. I was immersed into the time, place and soul of the characters and their environment so effortlessly. THANKYOU.

Extraordinary
A friend recommended this book to me, and it turned out to be one of the best books I've read this year. With intriguing characters and wonderful dialogue, I fell in love with a few of them. The story itself is heart-warmingly beautiful and opened my eyes to what it means to be a Death Doula. Jennifer Pickens narrated this story so superbly that I just want to listen to all her books now. This book will stay with me for a long time. I didn't want it to end!
