James Patterson's Detective Billy Harney is back, this time investigating murders in a notorious Chicago drug ring, which will lead him, his sister, and his new partner through a dangerous web of corrupt politicians, vengeful billionaires, and violent dark web conspiracies.

In The Coldest Case: A Black Book Audio Drama, homicide detective Billy Harney sends his new partner, Kate, deep undercover in a notorious Chicago drug ring. When several members of the ring soon turn up dead, Billy abruptly pulls Kate out, blowing her cover. Kate’s informant inside the gang quickly disappears. As does the ring’s black book....

When Billy can’t find the informant, he wonders if Kate is secretly harboring her, since the two grew close during Kate's weeks undercover. As Billy and Kate investigate the ring’s murders, they’ll be pulled into a dangerous web of corrupt politicians, vengeful billionaires, drugged pro-athletes, and violent, dark web conspiracies, all in search of the missing black book.

What We’ve Been Waiting For!

We’ve had many audio movies and dramas come out and many are cringe with way too much waste of time dialogue.

I binged the entire thing and couldn’t turn it off!

Dialogue was very well done, story had twists and turns that surprised me and kept me on the edge of my seat.

Really loved this one and hoping Audible and Patterson make a lot more of these and much longer.

Definitely recommend!

I loved every minute finished it in record time.

Love how well this was produced. They have taken so much time making it feel as though the characters are really in the environmentsnin each scene.

Well produced, great acting, captivating story!

I’m usually not a fan of these ‘acted’ stories as they tend to go overboard on pointless sound effects etc, but this one was superb! Lots of extra audio, yet none of it was gratuitous or overpowering. The voice actors do a tremendous job as well, all felt very real, not so much ‘staged’. I listened at 1.4 speed though, maybe that set the pace a bit as well.
The story is very well thought out and intriguing, I didn’t want to stop listening to this at all, great one for a few hour car trip or something.
All in all, great job done by everyone involved, definitely recommend this listen 👌🏻

Full cast narration done well

This audio drama would not have been as thrilling if it wasn't for the spot on casting of narrators. A specially captivating performance by Aaron Paul, Krysten Ritter and Karan Soni, the casting - along with the sound effects - offers variety of perspective and adds to scene setting without inundating the listener.
The story was good, it could've had more colour and been a bit longer (it felt a little rushed towards the end), but it still kept my attention and wasn't predictable in a way that left me bored.
Definitely looking forward to more audio dramas done like this in the future.

It's ok

I've listened to a couple of audio drama's and this one is ok. I recognised a couple of actors voices in it. Story is a bit predictable.

A different Audible experience

This was like a tv show without the visual. Each character was played by different individuals. The plot was intriguing and well paced I’m happy I listened.
