About this listen
Listen to The Climb, Anatoli Boukreev (portrayed by Ingvar Sigurðsson in the film Everest) and G. Weston DeWalt’s compelling account of those fateful events on Everest.
In May 1996, three expeditions attempted to climb Mount Everest on the Southeast Ridge route pioneered by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953. Crowded conditions slowed their progress. Late in the day twenty-three men and women—including expedition leaders Scott Fischer and Rob Hall—were caught in a ferocious blizzard. Disoriented and out of oxygen, climbers struggled to find their way down the mountain as darkness approached. Alone and climbing blind, Anatoli Boukreev brought climbers back from the edge of certain death.
“Powerful … a breath of brisk, sometimes bitter clarity … Boukreev did the one thing that denies the void. He took action. He chose danger, and he saved lives.”—The New York Times Book Review

great to hear the other side of the story
definitely worth reading, but after Into Thin Air which is a broader account while this is more focused on Boukreev's personal experience. It adds a lot to the Mountain Madness side the narrative and you definitely get the feeling that Boukreev was pretty hard done by Krakauer! Somethingsl I didn't quite realise when listening to Krakauer's account was that all of the Mountain Madness clients survived and had considerably more experience than Adventure Consultants'.

The other side of the story
I really loved it, especially after reading Into Thin Air (which tells you the story about the same day, but from the climber/journalist in Rob Hall’s expedition.)
This book is Must to listen if you want to hear more /different details and views about this expedition - great narration and content.

Frank realistic account of the 96 Everest mountain madness team
If you're interested in getting a balanced approach to the 96 Everest incidents that caused the deaths of 8 climbers on 10 May that year this is a superb novel - insight into the fascinating minds of climbers at high altitudes

Great account to clarify what happened on the 1996 expidition
Great narration and story, giving justice to Anatoli’s actions that were painted wrongly by John Krakauer.
