About this listen
They had not been forgiven. And they would never be forgotten....
On a hot summer’s morning, a young father is found murdered in a cornfield outside the quiet town of Colton, tied to a post, arms spread wide. Detective Robyn Carter is reminded of the crucifixion, and she knows she’s looking for a killer with a twisted sense of right and wrong.
The victim’s girlfriend is devastated, unable to fathom how she will tell her sick little boy. Still reeling from her own loss, Robyn vows she will find the killer - no matter what.
But then a local doctor - a popular woman with a young family of her own - is found dead outside her surgery. There are similarities between the first body and hers, and Robyn must take another look at the picture-postcard town, where no one has any enemies.
Can Robyn untangle the hidden web of secrets, lies, and smouldering grudges at the heart of this close-knit community before another life is lost?
A pause-resisting thriller that will keep you listening into the night. If you love Angela Marsons, James Patterson, or Tess Gerritsen, The Chosen Ones will have you hooked.

Great story
I really enjoy this series. I find the main character Robyn- a hopeless detective, as I solved the crime 1/2 way through- I’d definitely want Shearer on my case. I enjoy the team of characters and the feel. I do worry about her cat though as it’s time spent alone. I also get annoyed when at the start of the book it repeats Robyn’s past and backstory .

Took a bit
The start for me was one that I struggled to get right into. I kept at it and extremely glad I did. Loved the second half .

Jumping audio
Disappointed that the audio jumped on several occasions. Enjoyed the storyline, as I did with the books preceding.

Not quite as good as the previous in the series
Sadly, the case in this title wasn't too thrilling or unique, with barely a twist at all to it, which made it hard to push through. Previous titles in the series had been quite enjoyable, but this one was a bit of a let down, though that's not to say it wasn't enjoyable at all, just not as much. Some of the narrator's voices were a big strange too. The female characters all sounded similar and anyone with an accent sounded incredibly cliched.

Awful narrator.
Good story spoilt by dreadful narration.
With a good narrator these books would be great.

MidStafford Murders
Very good Midpand multi murdering religious nut job. This is undoubtedly my favourite so far in the Robyn Carter series. I like the misdirection, the numerous dead end leads, I cam feel.the frustration of a good lead then turns out fruitless ....but then it all comes together. It's life, it's believable.

Not the best of this series
This one is a bit repetitive in places and a lacks a bit a believability throughout with a crack detective team overlooking the killer right under the noses without even so much as a house search before it. Plot given away a bit early.
