About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Previously published as Alias Emma.

MOVE FAST. STAY DARK.

These are the instructions sent to new operative Emma Makepeace.

She's been assigned to track down a man wanted by the Russians and bring him into MI5.

It should be easy. But the Russians have eyes everywhere.

Emma knows that if spotted she and her target will be killed.

What follows is a perilous chase through London's night-time streets.

But in a city full of cameras, where can you hide?

Enid Blyton writes a spy novel

Naive, totally implausible, and silly. The performance added to the overall impression of a book that feels like it's the famous-five-become-spies, read by a 14 year old. No shade on the narrator but it's hard to imagine our protagonist as a member of the British Secret Service when she sounds like she's still in a training bra and has Taylor Swift posters on her bedroom wall.
