Masterful narration of intriguing sensitive investigation of causes of death

The natrator, Mark Davis, brings to life Dr Cynric Temple Camp's cases as a pathologist in South Africa and New Zealand. Temple-Camp relates his past cases with a detailed eye for storytelling but with compassion and sensitivity and appropriate humour. Loved this book and his previous book, The Quick and The Dead.

Truth

Learned about the cliff deaths as not drowning as we heard. Didn’t know what happened could happen.

Honest and humble

Very interesting book. I enjoyed all of the stories. Explanations of his work and some of the horrors were told in a very caring manner.

Good fun, a little selfabsorbed

I enjoyed this book but personality-wise? I think I just do not mesh with the author's 'approach' to life and professionalism in the field. He's professional, no doubt, but he just didn't mesh with me. I enjoyed the book though, and found it interesting throughout. The narration is well paced and well performed. 4 stars.

Lots of court stories

It was ok, enjoyed the pathologist stories. Too much on the court battles. It went on a bit and got a bit boring.

off to find the next one

this was recommended by a family member in the medical field,
i'm too young to remember many of these cases but having lived only minutes from this hospital, so to hear about deaths in the area and the stories of these people was eerie and the unbiased story their deaths had to tell was phenomenal, Thank goodness there is a book #2!

Fascinating, sensitive review of forensic pathology Dr Temple-Camp.

Dr Temple-Camp retells the beginnings of his career in Africa and his move to New Zealand in a beautiful way. The way he talks of his past ‘patients’ is sensitive and respectful. I highly recommend.
