About this listen

Most cataract surgery patients are optimistic and for good reason. I have personally performed thousands of cataract surgeries in my career, including members of my own family, and the majority of those operations were qualitatively successful. And because of the success rate of such surgeries, many prospective patients expect perfect vision restored with little or no recovery time.

And more often than not, this is the ultimate result. But, as with any surgery, there are potential complications. Cataract surgery has risk and can result in increased dry eye, irritation, pain, diminished focus, unexpected recovery issues, inflammation, and even loss of vision are possible.

And that is the reason I am writing this book: to advise and educate prospective patients in their decision to undergo cataract surgery and improve their understanding of the overall risks and rewards of such surgery.

Over the past 15 years as an ophthalmologist, I have witnessed firsthand the life-changing results of cataract surgery and experienced with my patients the true joy that accompanies better and more useful vision.

In this audiobook I will be sharing not only my expertise based on education, training, and experience, along with objective and empirical evidence, but also my subjective opinions as well. And those opinions may very well differ from the opinions of other medical experts in my field. And that’s okay. Just as every eye is different, the perspective through which we observe is equally different, unique, and subjective.
