About this listen

Ditching the stuffy hang-ups and benighted sexual traditionalism of the past is an unambiguously positive thing. The sexual revolution has liberated us to enjoy a heady mixture of erotic freedom and personal autonomy. Right?

Wrong, argues Louise Perry in her provocative new book. Although it would be neither possible nor desirable to turn the clock back to a world of pre-60s sexual mores, she argues that the amoral libertinism and callous disenchantment of liberal feminism and our contemporary hypersexualised culture represent more loss than gain. The main winners from a world of rough sex, hook-up culture, and ubiquitous porn–where anything goes and only consent matters–are a tiny minority of high-status men, not the women forced to accommodate the excesses of male lust. While dispensing sage advice to the generations paying the price for these excesses, she makes a passionate case for a new sexual culture built around dignity, virtue, and restraint.

This counter-cultural polemic from one of the most exciting young voices in contemporary feminism should be listened to by all men and women uneasy about the mindless orthodoxies of our ultra-liberal era.

What a fantastic book Louise! Thank you!!!

Wow, such an eye opening book. I read this after seeing an interview with Louise Perry on Triggernometry and I WISH I could’ve had this book when I was teenage girl. This book casts light on the societal feminist lie that’s condemning women and mothers, and I am so grateful for this refreshing and eye-opening perspective of the truth, Thank you Louise!

Engaging and non pretentious

A very engaging read, read by the author without the academic jargon that often makes these books a bore. Great narratives running through that highlight the points Perry was making. I felt both vindicated in my life choices, enlightened about the extent of harm social media platforms can have on our children and teenagers (especially what content is available!) and a little more armed when it comes to defending my parenting. The only thing I would love from Louise Perry, is a version that my 12 and 13 year olds could listen to.

Thank you... you put words to all I have felt.

Louise Perry's account of the challenges and pitfalls of relationships is an exceptionally insightful and well-researched piece. Her words eloquently capture the very sentiments and experiences that many of us have felt but struggled to articulate. I highly recommend that all women, especially young women, read this invaluable work. Additionally, I hope men also take the time to engage with this book as they too have been impacted by the effects of the sexual revolution. I am forever grateful for the transformative impact this book has had on me. Thank you, Louise, from the bottom of my heart.

Compelling and relevant

Reading this book addressed so many concerns that I had previously repressed. The arguments it makes are logical, realistic and critically important. I only wish that its views were not so unique among current social commentary.

For men. For women. But mostly for the children

I believe in society we seem to always be looking at the negative outcome of damage we do. Trying to fix it from the end. How better to educate ourselves so that we may at the beginning be aware. Once aware then choices cannot be laid at the feet of others. Life is complicated but sometimes threads help us piece it together.

the contents

I loved it could not recommend anymore you must listen or read !! It is so eloquently put in a non confronting manner. Yes the material has confrontational elements but the author themselves are not confronting in their views
