يتناول هذا الكتاب حدثًا فاصلًا في التاريخ الإسلامي وهي موقعة الجمل والتي حدثت بعد مقتل عثمان بن عفان وخلافة علي بن أبي طالب وخروج أم المؤمنين عائشة إلى قتال علي في موقعة الدم الأولى بين المسلمين، والتى كانت بداية الفرقة والتفرق.

ولانَّ السيدة عائشة تصدرت المشهد في هذه الحادثة وكان أطرافها صحابةً أجلَّاء فقد ابتعد المؤرخون عن ذكر التفاصيل وتجنبوا الخوض فيها خشية الوقوع في الخطأ لكنَّ لا بدَّ من وضع النقاط فوق الحروف يومًا ما لذا يحاول الكاتب هنا بيان الحادثة بأدقِّ تفاصيلها فالسبيل نحو الحقيقة واضح ولا يكون سوى بدراسة التاريخ والسيرة وما مرَّ بهما فالتاريخ الإسلامي بعيد عن الدّين وتعاليمه والبشر ليسوا مثالًا للدين فهم بقدر محاسنهم لديهم أخطاءهم ولا يجب تزيين الخطأ بسبب اسم صاحبه.
