Publisher's Summary

The Camel Club by best-selling sensation David Baldacci is the exciting first instalment of a breathtaking series.

The man known as Oliver Stone has no official past. He spends most days camped opposite the White House, hoping to expose corruption wherever he finds it. But the stakes are raised when he and his friends, a group of conspiracy theorist misfits known as The Camel Club, accidentally witness the murder of an intelligence analyst. Especially when the authorities are seemingly happy to write it off as a suicide.

For Secret Service agent Alex Ford, monitoring the 'investigation', the suicide verdict doesn't ring true. As punishment for sticking his nose where it doesn't belong, he is reassigned to bodyguard duties. His abilities are tested to the limit when he is sent to protect the President during a visit to his hometown, where a terrorist cell has spent months plotting an event that will shake the world.

Meanwhile, America's powerful intelligence chief Carter Gray is unnerved when he glimpses the face of an old acquaintance in Arlington Cemetery - but it is the face of a man supposedly long dead....

And as The Camel Club is poised to expose a conspiracy that reaches into the heart of Washington's highly secretive corridors of power, Alex Ford finds out that his worst nightmare is about to happen....

The Camel Club is followed by The Collectors, Stone Cold, Divine Justice and Hell's Corner.

I couldn’t put it down!

Very intriguing story, a little hard to keep track of all the characters at one stage but I kept listening and they sorted out, in my mind. Very frightening to think this kind of power could be manipulated by people who are in control of databases and the means to change things.

Just average

He’s written much better books. This was a bit silly with inventions to try and bridge plot holes. It was entertaining at times but certainly read better

didn't enjoy this one

I generally enjoy Baldacci books but not this one. it was too complex. I really pushed myself to finish it but wished I hadn't. The end actually angered me as it was so unbelievable and made it feel even more of a waste of time. I can handle a book that isn't great but not when you put all the time in and the ending is farcical. the narrator is very good to listen to which was the only saving grace

Couldn’t finish it

Starts off well but goes slowly downhill .. got to about 2/3 and gave up. Couldn’t get interested in the plot. The characters became stranger as the story continues. Too many good books to go on with.

Film and long winded

I found this not to be worth the effort... predictable.. as far as I got ... and unnecessarily verbose.
