The Horus Heresy Book 54
For long years, the Horus Heresy has ground on. Now, the Death Guard have been sent to begin the final battle. But Mortarion and his sons must face their gravest challenge first - for Nurgle has claimed them as his own, and he will not be denied....
After 54 books, the best-selling series is finally drawing to a close with a long-awaited story - the fall of the Death Guard into Nurgle's embrace as they make their way to start the Siege of Terra.
The skies darken over Terra as the final battle for the Throne looms ever closer.... As the Traitor primarchs muster to the Warmaster’s banner, it is Mortarion who is sent ahead as the vanguard of the Traitor forces. But as he and his warriors make way, they become lost in the warp and stricken by a terrible plague. Once thought of as unbreakable, the legendary Death Guard are brought to their knees. To save his Legion, Mortarion must strike a most terrible bargain that will damn his sons for eternity. Meanwhile, in the cloisters of Holy Terra, a plot is afoot to create sedition and carnage in advance of the Horus’ armies. Taking matters into his own hands, Malcador the Sigillite seeks to put a stop to any insurrection but discovers a plot that he will need all of his cunning and battle-craft to overcome.

Loved it
Fantastic book that told the story of corruption and also new growths (and pustules) , also a plot line that’s concurrently running of Garro and the knights

Great story, featuring some of the best heresy era characters. voice acting was superb.
No issues for me, favourite book from the heresy series so far.
If anything would have liked more Mortarion, only because I enjoyed it so much.

I'm biased...
Look I loved it. Finally a decent amount of more surrounding Mortarion and the founding of the Death Guard. The machinations of Malcador and the continued tale of Mortarion's wayward son Garro were also a great juxtaposition on a tragedy on so many fronts. If you like 40k and the lore behind it you will like this story.

The Plague takes hold
The relentless march of the Death Guard approaches Terra, and the reason why becomes apparent. Why Mortarion makes this choice and everything leading up to it. The Imperium is surely doomed. Though all hope to fight the abominable forces of Nurgle and the Gods of Chaos is not lost. Malcadors Knights Errant stand ready for now and all time. Garro, Loken, Rubio and the their brothers in Grey. Brilliantly narrated by Keeble, this is another unmissable book in the saga of the Heresy.

Great book
Great book, as a fan on the Death Guard.
The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the secondary story, set on Terra, that had nothing to do with the death guard.

Swallow returns at his best
Seamlessly sliding between two of the best story lines in the Horus Heresy, Swallow and Keeble unite to provide a disgustingly resilient chapter in the final stages of this epic genre!
