About this listen
Australian crime reporter Maddie Grey is out of her depth in New York, miserable, and secretly drawn to her powerful, twice-married media mogul boss, Elena Bartell, who eats failing newspapers for breakfast. As work takes them to Australia, Maddie is goaded into a brief, seemingly harmless bet with her enigmatic boss - where they have to tell the complete truth to each other. It backfires catastrophically.
Contains mature themes.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book
I wasn't sure if I should get this book due to the reviews talking about how hard the Aussie accent was to listen and as I am Australian I figured it would bother me too. Well I am glad that I ended up purchasing the book as it was a great story and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it and the accents didn't bother me at all.
If you enjoy Lee Winters other books you will enjoy this one too :-)

Wonderfull story but hard listen for an Aussie.
Superb writing with an amazingly engaging and captivating storyline, Angela Dawe’s narration is quite diverse and well executed with the exception of her Australian accent, it lacked any form of accuracy and made it challenging to reach the end of this story, credit to Angela for giving trying though.

Excellent story
Loved the sTory and build between E and M. Australian pronunciations hard to listen to as an Aussie.

Entertaining
Cudos to the Narrator for giving the Aussie accent a go, but it was a little painful to listen to. If not for the thoroughly entertaining and funny storyline I may not have continued to listen.

One of my favourites
Loved this book! As an Aussie I agree with the other reviewers that the accent was not great, but I just imagined Maddie was a Kiwi instead from the start and no probs.

Loved it
Awesome book. Loved the tone of voice and the French accent. The Australian accent needed some refinement, Sounded like a mix of American and New Zealand.

Loved it
I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this much really given the setting but five minutes in I was hooked by the characters.
Australian accent is a shocker but once you get used to it it seems to fit the characters pretty well.
I really enjoyed it and so my lee winter audiobook binge continues

A brilliantly written book
I adore this book. I’ve given up counting how many times I’ve read/listened to it. It has some fascinating insights into the world of fashion and publishing. It also brings into focus some definite current concerns about the abuse of power in the workplace. At its heart though, it is a tender and engaging love story. Lee Winter’s wordsmith is so brilliantly carved out that you can read it again and again. Angela Dawe’s voice as Elena Bartell is memorising and you’ll actually want to listen to the book again, just to listen to this character. I did take one star off for the Australian accent for Maddie, (that does grate for Australian ears, but most people won’t care).

So many great one liners!
I enjoyed this, some zinger one liners that had me laughing out loud, even in public places. Sure the Aussie accent isn’t great, but I think it’s perhaps one of the hardest accents to get right (even the goddess Meryl Streep struggled), a valiant effort tho. I did find the voice of Maddy didn’t match her being morphed into a frock and heels wearing girly girl, I thought her voice was more of a tux wearing kinda gal. But the story was good and entertaining. Worth the time. And thank god no overbearing, meddling, zero boundaries “friends” or family.
