About this listen

“Absolutely brilliant!” (Jonathan Maberry, New York Times best-selling author)

The new supernatural thriller from New York Times best-selling author Peter Clines

You can still owe the dead.

Hector was the best of the best. A government operative who could bring armies to a halt and nations to their knees. But when his own country betrayed him, he dropped off the grid and picked up the first of many bottles.

Natalie can’t remember much of her life before her family brought her to the US, but she remembers the cages. And getting taken away to the Project with dozens of other young children to become part of their nightmarish experiments. That’s how she ended up with the ghost of a dead secret agent stuck in her head.

And Hector owes Natalie’s ghost a big favor.

Now Hector and Natalie are on the run from an army of killers sent to retrieve her. Because the people behind the Project are willing to risk almost anything to get Natalie back and complete their experiments.

I bought this audiobook to kill time on my four hour drive from work, I had planned to only listen to as much as the drive took and then finish it off on the drive back in one week (I work and live on site for 2 weeks on, one week off) but it was so riveting that I couldn’t stop and now I’m going to have to find something else to listen to when I head back in.

I even enjoyed the part at the end where he explained how the book had come to life, interesting stuff.I had not heard/read anything from this author before, definitely gonna look into his other stuff now.

Couldn’t turn it off

I listen to so many audible books and see them through because.... Well I brought them.
But this book I listened to because he succeeded in making me care about the people, making me wonder what will happen next and just plane oll enjoying the naritive pitch and Narators voice. It's part horrer, mystery, and Jason Born action. A fun ride.

Twist and turns. Wonderful!

Anyone who has read Peter Clines' books will know that 14 and The Fold are both amazing, and most of his other books, which came later, are also great, but never quite live up to them. This one almost does. I loved every element of this story, except perhaps for the final culmination, which I found a little underwhelming, but that definitely isn't a reason to skip this book. The narrator is perhaps one of the best I've ever listened to and plays each character perfectly. You couldn't ask for a better narrator for this book. I'd give this 9/10 overall.

Great story, lovable characters, excel. narration

My type of storyline. Bit out of the ordinary. Better than 14. So glad it had a good ending.

Ignore the 1 star reviews, it's just a bunch of Americans who can't accept the inhumane way they treat immigrants.

The book is maybe not so good as 14 and The Fold, but it's on par with Dead Moon and the one about a guy on a boat (forgot the title).
