Publisher's Summary
“Absolutely brilliant!” (Jonathan Maberry, New York Times best-selling author)
The new supernatural thriller from New York Times best-selling author Peter Clines
You can still owe the dead.
Hector was the best of the best. A government operative who could bring armies to a halt and nations to their knees. But when his own country betrayed him, he dropped off the grid and picked up the first of many bottles.
Natalie can’t remember much of her life before her family brought her to the US, but she remembers the cages. And getting taken away to the Project with dozens of other young children to become part of their nightmarish experiments. That’s how she ended up with the ghost of a dead secret agent stuck in her head.
And Hector owes Natalie’s ghost a big favor.
Now Hector and Natalie are on the run from an army of killers sent to retrieve her. Because the people behind the Project are willing to risk almost anything to get Natalie back and complete their experiments.

Couldn’t turn it off
I bought this audiobook to kill time on my four hour drive from work, I had planned to only listen to as much as the drive took and then finish it off on the drive back in one week (I work and live on site for 2 weeks on, one week off) but it was so riveting that I couldn’t stop and now I’m going to have to find something else to listen to when I head back in.
I even enjoyed the part at the end where he explained how the book had come to life, interesting stuff.I had not heard/read anything from this author before, definitely gonna look into his other stuff now.

Great story, lovable characters, excel. narration
Anyone who has read Peter Clines' books will know that 14 and The Fold are both amazing, and most of his other books, which came later, are also great, but never quite live up to them. This one almost does. I loved every element of this story, except perhaps for the final culmination, which I found a little underwhelming, but that definitely isn't a reason to skip this book. The narrator is perhaps one of the best I've ever listened to and plays each character perfectly. You couldn't ask for a better narrator for this book. I'd give this 9/10 overall.

an easy listen
My type of storyline. Bit out of the ordinary. Better than 14. So glad it had a good ending.

Good plot but weird pacing
I really enjoyed the story but there’s an altogether way too long section in the middle of the book that is chapter after chapter of exposition where one of the characters recounts past events. I really enjoy Peter Clines’ work but getting through that middle section was a slog. Not because the events recounted were boring (they weren’t), but it took me out of the action. I think I would have liked it better if that information had been revealed more strategically throughout the book.
Having said that, once that section was over I was rewarded with a story with a solid plot and full of action.
The narration was pleasant enough but a little prosaic.

started out good. liked the idea of an escaped girl needing help. but just got weird. too many things happening. felt like every idea the author had got put in the book without anyone saying enough.

Blown Away
Simply superb plot; pace; writing; and narrative - I can't believe how long it has taken me to discover Peter Clines and now have a voracious appetite for more - a great listen

Different storyline but still engrossing
Not the usual story from Peter Clines but I still very much enjoyed the ride.

Quite a few twists and turns
The summary looks a little cliched but Peter Clines does a great job. It starts off with a retired secret agent getting into a few "scrapes" and then moves to one of the author's favourite themes - alternate dimensions. Definitely not run-of-the -mill. Great author
