About this listen

Some men are just off-limits. Like, say, all the other football players in the league….

I have to stop replaying the one night I spent with my rival. Trouble is, that white-hot encounter with the other quarterback answered a lot of questions I’ve had about myself, but it also led me into this mess where he hates me.

I never showed up for our second date. Since, well, life happened, and the worst part is he’ll never know how much that night meant to me.

But when I’m traded to his cross-town rivals, that’s not the time to serve up my secrets to him either. My team’s PR department wants to double down on our rivalry. I need to focus on football, not on my interest in men. Except, the more time I spend doing media appearances and charity events with the sexy, generous, popular guy, the hungrier I am to finish what we started.

It’s a bad idea to knock on his door late one night. I could lose everything. He’s probably not even home.

But when the door swings open and I’m face to face with the man I want desperately, I have a choice to make.

A stand-alone enemies-to-rivals-to-lovers, second-chance sports romance full of secrets, first times, and forbidden love….

A sweet and entertaining read

Always a fan of Lauren Blakley this book was sweet and entertaining and the anxiety was well represented. Both narrators did a fabulous job. I'll be checking out more in the series.

One of Blakely's best

One of my favourite books by Blakely! These characters were so sweet, realistic and grown up (no silly and unnecessary angst here!). I was there for every step of their relationship.

I LOVED the supportive friends, how the better performing team's coach was actually a nice person, how honestly and openly living with an anxiety disorder was represented. I couldn't fault this story, it was sweet and gave all of the warm fuzzies ❤️

The narration was also great. I was worried having just listened to a few books in duet, but the narrators were great at differentiating the characters and I didn't miss the duets too much.

A sucker for rivals to lovers!

The Boyfriend Comeback is book one in The Boyfriend Zone. A MM sports romance.

I am an absolute sucker for the rivals to lovers vibes in sports romance. They have the perfect amount of tension….and it's usually sexual tension! Lauren delivered perfectly with Jason and Beck. The banter was light hearted and fun whilst still giving that level of sassy. We also have a few characters appearance from previous books which is always a fun addition. Low to somewhat medium angst as it does mention Beck's anxiety and the struggles he faced with it. I liked the added author note from Lauren in the audiobook addressing the mental health issues and providing health professional links to readers.

I enjoyed the teaser for the next read Limited Edition Husband and the deleted scenes provided at the end of the audiobook. As always so must mention that Teddy Hamilton and JK Harding slayed with the audiobook. If you're new to audiobooks and not sure where to start Lauren always has fantastic narrators!

Low-angst sports romance

I wouldn't call this enemies-to-rivals-to-lovers. It's not a lie, but it is a little misleading. The MCs are never actually enemies, and even when they are playing on different teams they don't think of each other as rivals or have an on-page rivalry. The word "rival" is used a lot but it doesn't accurately describe their relationship, they simply play on different teams and rib each other occasionally. Even the forbidden-romance is very light. It's kinda there, but it's not much of a thing. I'd call this a low-angst sports romance between athletes. It's an enjoyable story with lovable characters, and it's very well performed. No complaints. And I do recommend it. But it's not what I expected after reading the blurb.
