About this listen

Philanthropist and business leader Dr Andrew Forrest AO calls on Australia's business sector to invest in clean energy, ocean conservation and closing the inequality gap for the good of the nation. Dr Forrest's 2020 Boyer Lectures makes the case for business to collaborate with philanthropy to drive positive change on multiple fronts.

1. Oil vs Water: Confessions of a carbon emitter Andrew Forrest calls for an urgent move to green hydrogen ‘on a global scale’. For Dr Forrest, the question is not whether green hydrogen will become the next global energy form, but who will be the first to mass-produce it?

2. Lighting up our ocean Dr Forrest argues the key issues facing our oceans – deoxygenation, overfishing and plastic pollution – are our fault, and it's us who must fix them. He says it's philanthropic and government interventions, at a scale not yet seen, that will save our seas.

3. The economics of inequality Dr Andrew Forrest discusses how inequality manifests in our modern capitalist system – through intergenerational dependence on welfare, lack of access to finance, a lack of policy focus on early childhood development in vulnerable communities and through modern slavery.

A very insightful message from a true Visionary

Dr Andrew Forrest provides a very up front view and harsh reality that our World currently faces, due to our own capitalistic behaviours. He gives some very relevant advice on how we can help to make a difference, not just by revealing to us how to do it, but demonstrating it through his own actions, and through Fortescue Metals Group’s very own company policies. Highly recommended listening that all Australians must listen to. We need to make a World difference by implementing these changes on our very own soil, waters and environment. Well done Twiggy. A+++

forget your preconceptions

Andrew Forrest is a remarkable person, with very progressive views, - not what you might expect from a multi millionaire. he is very farsighted about the environment and helping give indigenous people a leg up and puts his money where his mouth is. if only more wealthy Australians followed his fine example.
