About this listen
The Chameleon Project - a Black Operations unit led by Bruce McQuillian whose existence is known only to a handful of men.
When a corrupt politician with an appetite for preteen girls kidnapped and tortured while under his Unit's surveillance, McQuillian is left with a dilemma - what to do with the rogue commando responsible? As the stakes escalate, a sinister plot involving a triad of the Russian Bratva, an influential French arms dealer and one of the most powerful men within the British security services threatens to engulf the Isles. Could a man with an impulse for sadism and a 350-year-old ethos burnt within be the only man McQuillan can trust?

Too much detail.
First review after listening to a lot of audiobooks. I started out really enjoying this audiobook but then more characters were introduced and the whole storyline went into way too much detail. Not being a physical book you can’t refer back to details you need to continue forward. In the end I just listened till the end, not really knowing what was going on. I enjoyed the narration.

the story line
I found the basic story was really engrossing but I did think that there was too much background information and not enough dialogue I am looking forward to the next book as I enjoyed the characters and hope that I get used to the style of writing.

Need more show & less tell, for me
Advertised as an English Reacher, l was left wanting by the first book on a few fronts. It lacks logic, you have a lone wolf sniper and you decide to force him into an apprenticeship? The alpha male remains his boss and Connor the puppet, who seems to be unable to live in the moment and is off daydreaming random thoughts.
The constant 'pause' of forward story movement to impart detailed background info - which isnt needed to follow the action unfolding - became like annoying adverts during a movie you were into.
Too many unnecessary info dumps for me, sorry.

A rollicking good tale which was very well performed.
The story never got into excessive navel gazing which is a welcome thing for me. Instead strong characters and a great storyline made this a great listen. The storytelling expertise of the narrator was brilliant.

Nothing
Starts well, then nothing happens for at least 8 chapters aside from minute details of all characters and their education, schooling, fitness, military training, parents etc etc. I think there must be some action coming but the author seems to get caught up in setting the scene over and over. After 8 chapters I quit, I had a vague idea that an adventure was coming but boy oh boy it was taking an inordinate amount of time to do so and I had no idea what it was. If you read this book (it’s quite well written) you’ll need patience to reach the end.
