Publisher's Summary
A killer is at work in the supposedly safe commuter belt. DCI Gillard needs answers fast....
Promising architect Peter Young is shot dead at his desk. DCI Craig Gillard is on the scene, looking at what appears to be a brutal and highly professional hit: two bullets, fired with ice-cold calm. Gillard knows that the most crucial question in solving the crime is one word: why?
Two weeks later, on the Lincolnshire coast, another body is found on a windswept beach. In this case there is no identity for the young man, just a curious brand burned into his neck. As the mystery deepens, Gillard is plunged into a case without answers, finding himself up against dark forces - people who believe in only two things: blood and a warped code of honour. This time lives are on the line, children's lives - as well as his own.
At breakneck pace and with a jaw-dropping twist, the suspense-filled second DCI Gillard crime thriller is perfect for fans of Robert Bryndza, Patricia Gibney and Faith Martin.

A great read
Really enjoyed this book quite riverting, kept me interested all the way, great Author
I read an earlier review about 'a mention of love making was not necessary'. so was a bit wary while listening out loud... BUT this was Nothing .. and laughable in retrospect of the subject of the book. BUT agree the title is wrong.

Thought provoking crime.
A difficult subject with the typical Lough mastery of a complicated plot. I enjoyed The Body in the Marsh more, but that maybe because it was a less confrontational crime.

Detailed and interesting plot
I was really impressed with this 2nd book in series. While I thought the first book had merit, and I enjoyed the characters, I did find it tried to follow too many plot lines and dropped clues that were never picked up. Overall it felt like it could have been edited better for the benefit of the reader. Still, I thought I’d give the series one more chance.
In contrast, this plot line was complex and well edited. I’ll definitely be moving on to book 3.

Great story
The narrator is brilliant and brings the characters to life. Interesting story and I’m sure this kind of thing really does happen. Can’t wait to listen to the next one

Realistic and credible storyline
I really like crime novels that are created from historical events, not to mention police procedures that do not fast forward or gloss over the behind the scenes detection of evidence.
Plus I have developed from my driving experience an innate a distrust of highly polished, darkened windowed, high speed 4WD vehicles. They always get right of way when they share my road.

Disappointing
I loved the previous book but found this a bit silly so won’t bother with the series. Virtually throwing away the character of Sam was a waste.

So average
Perhaps it was the narrators voice perhaps it was the story I just wanted this to finish. It’s a bit dated. Or is it just dull. Oh I’m not sure I wouldn’t recommend it.
