AH-MAY-ZING !!!
One of the best I've "read" lately. Just wonderful writing and it's made me want to visit these islands as soon as the pandemic is over. Although maybe not the gannet rock!
Love this book so much - I hope I have encouraged others to download it.
Oh and also the narrator with his range of accents was incredible. I've no way of knowing whether his islander accent is accurate but it certainly brought home to me, the strong influence of the Norweigan accent. Just fabulous.

Fabulous!
I thoroughly enjoyed this! It was well written and extremely well read. The story was very cleverly told as both a police "whodunnit" and a biography of the main police officer that transported me easily to the rugged coast of Scotland and its surrounds. I am a big fan of the Shetland tv series and books and this was every bit as good. I absolutely recommend!

Unusual but it gets you
Great listen with twists I didn’t see. All storylines relevant but hard to see why until towards the middle of the book.

More than I expected
Loved this book. Was so much more than a police procedural with Finn's background being well developed. I kept getting my map out to look at the settings. Fascinating about the guga hunt. Have bought the next two in the trilogy.

F#@&ing brilliant
Some books are clever entertaining ideas well written to entertain. This however felt very diffrent.
Have you ever seen celtic art work. It's the same knot, over and over again. By itself unremarkable.. But when you step back and see how one knot becomes allmost fractal in beauty. Not only does it become more than a knot, its art, but you are also left marveling at the subtle and f@#&ing intence craftsmanship that goes into such a peace.
This book is just like that, it's the same story of a small town told over and over again that pulls you in with the details then makes you step back and look at how it's all winding together... As a mystery? As a tragedy? As tale of brutally simple truiths about life?
This book is not well written. It's f#&kn crafted... out of out granite...and the ending...omfg.... will stay suck in your mind for days afterwards.
