About this listen
Elvis Cole and his enigmatic partner, Joe Pike, race to find a terrifying, unidentified killer in this twisting, unpredictable thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Robert Crais.
Traci Beller was thirteen when her father disappeared in the sleepy town of Rancha, not far from Los Angeles. The evidence says Tommy Beller abandoned his family, but Traci never believed it. Now, ten years later, Traci is a high-profile influencer with millions of followers and the money to hire the best detective she can find: Elvis Cole.
Elvis heads to Rancha where an ex-con named Sadie Givens and her daughter, Anya, might have a line on the missing man. But when Elvis finds himself shadowed by a gang of vicious criminals, the missing persons cold case becomes far more sinister.
Elvis calls his ex-Marine friend, Joe Pike, for help, and they follow Tommy Beller's trail into the depths of a monstrous, hidden evil. The case flips on its head, victims become predators, predators become prey, and the question becomes: Can Elvis Cole save them all from this nightmare?

All Cole this time.
First time I have listened to an audio from this author. Always enjoyed reading Cole and Pike in book form. Not sure if it was the story or the audio that made this one not as exciting as the books. Maybe it was Pike taking the background as a watcher, leaving the action to Elvis. Bit as always fast moving.

Long time reader first time listener
It’s been a while since I’ve picked up Cole / Pike book and I honestly wondered if the magic that had drawn me in before was still there. I’m happy to say that it was. From the first few chapters I was captivated by the writing and the characters - I found myself eagerly following on to see what would happen next. There were moments when I laughed out loud!
The pacing was great and the characters felt familiar but still managed to surprise me in the best ways.
While some plot twists felt a bit foreseeable, I think it’s a testament to the Cole / Pike series’ ability to create such engaging characters and witty dialogue that I didn’t mind one bit. I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter
