Lily is back from Australia for the first time in seven years to spend Christmas at her mum’s house in a small, gossipy English village. To her surprise, she returns to find that her mother is dating the man next door, who also happens to be the father of her ex-boyfriend Tom. Tom, who broke Lily’s heart all those years ago. Tom, the real reason Lily fled to the other side of the world and stayed there. Tom, who is also home for Christmas and right there, next door.
In what is shaping up to be the worst Christmas ever, somehow Lily and Tom have to try to get along and play happy families, but living with the man who she is clearly not over is proving to be difficult, and tensions are high. Add in some drunken caroling, a reindeer bite, a potent Christmas pudding and some meddling parents and Lily’s trip home will turn her entire life upside down.

Hugely enjoyable British romcom!
Lily decides to fly back to the UK for Christmas to surprise her mum, only find she’s the one who’s surprised. Her mum and her ex-boyfriend’s father have moved in together so Lily and Tom must share the vacant house. Even after 7 years, Lily still feels angry over the way Tom ended the relationship so it’s going to be an awkward Christmas! This British romcom was fun and fluffy with some nice humour, just so easy to enjoy. Best of all, the story is set in a tiny village outside of Manchester and the audio narrator, Rachael Tidd, does some wonderful Manchunian accents - it was music to my ears!

A really nice story
I really enjoyed listening to this book, and found myself smiling and laughing on many occasions. An easy listen, good story and great narrator..

A fun Christmas read
A short and sweet, fun Christmas read, perfect for the holidays. The main male character was my favourite, a sweet guy who puts up with a lot of coldness from the main female character. It all works out nicely in the end though. A few laugh out loud moments that weren't enough to make memorable.

Deliciously written & narrated
I loved this novella. Beautifully written and narrated. That Yorkshire accent adds another level. It swung the whole spectrum of emotions from laughing out loud to tears to & back to happiness.

Loved it
Starting listening this morning and couldn't stop, had to go to work, very inconvenient. Not sure how you managed it Kate Forster but you tugged at my heart strings only an hour after the funniest line I've read in a long time!

A funny and joyful book
This is a light hearted book with plenty of warmth and humour that is easy to relate to. I loved listening and laughing as I pottered around the house.
