Publisher's Summary
The daughter of a legend finds the love of a lifetime in this passionate, heart-wrenching instalment in J. R. Ward's #1 New York Times bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood series . . .
Nalla, the blooded daughter of Zsadist, has led a sheltered life. Protected by her father and the Brotherhood, kept away from the deadly war with the Lessening Society, she is chafing against the walls of the very safety that has ensured her survival. One night, she gives in to her restlessness...and finds herself face-to-face with a male whose inner darkness rivals even that of her sire's horrific origins.
Nate is a fighter with nothing to lose-and nothing to live for. Tortured in a human lab as a young, then cursed with immortality, he is all vengeance and no purpose because he cares for no one-not even himself. The Brotherhood knows this all too well, and following Nate's deliberate violation of the cardinal rule in the war, they declare him a dangerous liability that must be dealt with.
When Nalla and Nate find themselves fighting side by side, daggers aren't the only things that fly. A sizzling attraction is ignited, though Nalla knows her sire will never accept him-and on his side, Nate has made a secret bargain to end his own immortality. As the enemy closes in, and Nalla realizes she must choose between her mate and her sire, what starts with such passion may well end with eternal sorrow and no chance of a reunion-even in the Fade.

Is this the last?
I really enjoyed this book, but the ending sounded like a series wrap-up. I hope not!

JR Ward! You are an amazing story teller
I don’t know how she keeps it all together and in sequence. I loved this book, well I love all her books!!
Can’t wait for the next one.

quite disappointed with this novel
I love this series and have been a rapid reader of this whole series. I personally feel it could have been beautifully wound up with Lassiters story.
here I feel a reach into pushing the story line with the children grown-up and living life. I would have liked much more story incorporated re Wraths disappearance, much more on Lash and his manical personality and further mention of Devina and her wareabouts and tricks. the story of Lash and Devina could be much more antagonistic or narcissistic.
Overall a decent story but could have been tighter and more edge of your seat. Felt like a Mills & Boone novel.

What an epic book!
Another fantastic BDB book. I wasn't sure how much I was going to like the time jump, but in true JR Ward style the story was filled with drama, sitting on the edge of your seat suspense and a true love story. I really enjoyed getting my teeth (pun intended) into the book. I am just sorry that I listened to it so fast. I just couldn't put it down. If you are unsure if you wanted to continue like I was I recommended reading or listening to it. You will be very happy 😊 you did.

The story lines are great
Love listening to my "vampire porn" as my adult kids call it. Been following the series for years now and always feel sad when the book ends as I want to get right back into it to find out what happens next. I have read and listened to the series so many times, I've lost count.
