About this listen
When Shadeys Bank loses another CEO to a scandal, they are desperate to show they’ve reformed. Who better to present their redemption than a country Vicar?
Reverend Tom Goodman is ousted from his job as a country Vicar for allowing a homeless family to stay in the church hall. Meanwhile, a major bank is trying to rescue its image after the latest in a long string of financial scandals. It seems like the perfect match, and Goodman is hastily appointed as the bank’s new CEO. All they have to do is promote him as their new figurehead whilst also keeping him away from the day-to-day business of dubious banking. Unfortunately for Shadeys, Tom is planning on making a difference. And so begins an epic battle of wills. The might of a multi-billion-pound bank versus a seemingly naïve country Vicar.

What fun
Thoroughly enjoyed this story. Nigel Planer is a superb narrator and the engaging story has hints of Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams in style. Well worth a listen. I’m keen to listen to more from this author.

Outstanding
Another satirical classic, light hearted and up lifting. This book is perfect for those who enjoy satire that is not just critical but also heartwarming. It leaves you with a smile on your face and a sense of optimism about the world, making it a perfect read for anyone looking for something both meaningful and light-hearted.

I wish Nigel Planer narrated more.
I really only got it because I love Nigel Planer's Pratchett narrations so much and I've finished them all again thanks to Covid-19 lock down. I got Schroedinger's cottage too.
I really enjoyed the story, though I'm not keen on first person narratives.
Nigel Planer was perfect!

don't judge a book by it's cover
I was reluctant to listen to these books due to the cover art (silly I know), however I am really enjoying this author. I will buy his other books once I get through the audible plus ones available.
