Publisher's Summary

The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake is the runaway TikTok must-listen fantasy novel of the year, read by a full cast of narrators. If you loved Ninth House and A Deadly Education, you’ll love this.

Secrets. Betrayal. Seduction.

Welcome to the Alexandrian Society.

When the world’s best magicians are offered an extraordinary opportunity, saying yes is easy. Each could join the secretive Alexandrian Society, whose custodians guard lost knowledge from ancient civilizations. Their members enjoy a lifetime of power and prestige. Yet each decade, only six practitioners are invited—to fill five places.

Contenders Libby Rhodes and Nico de Varona are inseparable enemies, cosmologists who can control matter with their minds. Parisa Kamali is a telepath, who sees the mind’s deepest secrets. Reina Mori is a naturalist who can perceive and understand the flow of life itself. And Callum Nova is an empath, who can manipulate the desires of others. Finally there’s Tristan Caine, whose powers mystify even himself.

Following recruitment by the mysterious Atlas Blakely, they travel to the Society’s London headquarters. Here, each must study and innovate within esoteric subject areas. And if they can prove themselves, over the course of a year, they’ll survive. Most of them.

The story continues in The Atlas Paradox, the heart-stopping sequel.

Originally a self-published sensation, this edition has been fully edited and revised. Now includes the short story Sacred Hospitality.

couldn't stop listening

the ending seems very much like a beginning, which is a bit frustrating but also kind of brilliant. can't wait to listen to the sequal.

almost fantastic

The story and characters are all intriguing but there's just so much faff and wordy nonsense. Way too long. Someone needs to edit this with a machete. I did enjoy the different narrators though. Well performed.

Captivating characters and magic

4.5 stars

Easy to binge and left me wanting a sequel. The best element of this book is the characters - self-absorbed, manipulative, and captivating. The author gives each a clear voice and leaves us to guess at their motivations and flaws and how this affects the web of relationships.

I listened to this as an audiobook, where each character perspective had a different voice actor. It’s a risky move as some actors’ characters had grating / annoying voices. Yet it gave another dimension to the character perspective - this is how this character perceives the others and finds them annoying.

My main complaint is the limited plot. It feels like the first act of a story, rather than the whole story. Time (and sequels) will tell whether it is worth investing in; as a beginning, I loved it.

Amazing Cast and Story

I loved every minute of this ride! An amazing cast, however some were stronger than others. I was devastated that Callum's South African accent was so sketchy by all performers, except in the bonus short story at the end. Otherwise I felt the actors really lifted the story and pulled me in. Straight on to the sequel!

It’s twisty, turny and utterly tantalising

Well, this was not at all what I thought it would be. At first, what I assumed to be magical academia quickly became a rather involved entanglement of mystery intrigue and subplots.

I’m now hungry for the next book!

Ready for the sequel

Interesting and creative plot, i don’t know how many books in the series, but it finishes unfinished ready for the next instalment.
Enjoyed it while doing housework, gardening and exercising. Easy listening due to different narrators for each character.

Enjoyed but not favourite

Performances were amazing (as always) but the story wasn’t one I thoroughly enjoyed. Would recommend to those who like dark academia

This book took me so long to get through

It is just a bunch of pretentious teenagers talking about magic thinking they’re better then everyone. I had to listen to the audio book because I couldn’t get through the book.
The audio reader made this experience a thousand times easier and towards the end I almost forgot how much I disliked the story.

Painted a vivid picture in my imagination

Loved how each character had their own narrator, their own magical abilities and how a magical world integrated with a regular world. Some of the narration was confusing, switching between a character's spoken dialogue and the character's thoughts without much tonal change making it difficult to follow. Agree with others that Raina's voice was grating. About to read the second book - it seems like it should have just been 1 book instead of 2 separate. The first book stops in a really weird spot. Overall loved the writing and the narrators really painted a vivid picture in my mind of the magic and character's stories.
