Publisher's Summary
Love is a sacrifice at the altar of power.
In the wake of the Kejari, everything Oraya once thought to be true has been destroyed. A prisoner in her own kingdom, grieving the only family she ever had, and reeling from a gutting betrayal, she no longer even knows the truth of her own blood. She’s left only with one certainty: she cannot trust anyone, least of all Raihn.
The House of Night, too, is surrounded by enemies. Raihn’s own nobles are none too eager to accept a Turned king, especially one who was once a slave. And the House of Blood digs its claws into the kingdom, threatening to tear it apart from the inside.
When Raihn offers Oraya a secret alliance, taking the deal is her only chance at reclaiming her kingdom—and gaining her vengeance against the lover who betrayed her. To do so, she’ll need to harness a devastating ancient power intertwined with her father’s greatest secrets.
With enemies closing in on all sides, nothing is as it seems. As she unravels her past and faces her future, Oraya finds herself forced to choose between the bloody reality of seizing power and the devastating love that could be her downfall.
Full of heartbreak, redemption, bloody intrigue, and heart-pounding action, The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King is the gutting second installment of the Crowns of Nyaxia series and the conclusion of the Nightborn Duet. It is perfect for fans of From Blood and Ash and A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Great continuation of the storm
This picked up after the first. Obviously the story was built upon the events of the last book and included new characters and locations. I enjoyed the inclusion of Rhains point of view. I would of liked more daddy Vincent but his and Orayas mums back story was satisfying. Great narrators. Both added personality to the characters.

A new Fav!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
I scoffed. “You’re a dreamer.” “Couldn’t have made it this far if I wasn’t.”
This was so great and definitely cemented “Crowns of Nyaxia” as a series I love. I do think book one gripped me a little more but I think that’s because I’m a sucker for any sort of game/trial plot line.
In the beginning, we see Oraya struggles with the events that transpired at the ending of The Serpent and the Wings of Night. Grief and betrayal constantly battling. Her growth and determination in this book was fantastic.
Raihn is everything! He is such a calculated character that thinks through all his moves and has reason behind his actions.
Both Oraya and Raihn have inner battles that they have to overcome, and I loved watching it.
What you’ll fine in The Ashes and the Star-Cursed King:
Dual POV
He Falls First
Royal and Political Intrigue
Found Family
Vampires
Secrets From the Past
Marriage Of Convenience
“I hate that I love you”
Written In the Stars
This instalment focused more on the politics of the world, which was interesting. Explaining the vampire house and their tentative relationships.
We also got so much information of our characters backstories and histories.
“I am the Nightborn king,” I said, voice low and deadly. “Do you think I’m going to beg for your respect? I don’t need your respect. Your fear will do. Bow.”
The ending makes me excited for some crazy s*** that could unfold in future books!
There were a couple points that I thought the story dragged a bit, and possibly could’ve been sorter, but overall I highly recommend you pick up this series!

Good but not as good as the first
Firstly the narration of this book was so good. Absolutely loved Aiden and always love Amanda.
I found this plotline to be a repetitive at times and issues with character development etc….in saying that it’s a vampire love story I still absolutely loved it. Just not as much as the first.

Good premise but something is missing
This second book had a really good foundation to work from and the twist was an interesting one, however, I felt that more could have been done with the two main characters. There was certainly room for a great story to come from this series, but it has left me a little wanting for more content around the characters and a better conclusion. Still, it is a good, fun story and the male narrator for Raihn has a beautiful voice. I found the female narrator intonation to be a little too 'sing-song' or childish for what was meant to be a strong female character.

Having a hard time listening to the male narrator
I really enjoyed book1. Book 2 however I am having a really hard time listening to and enjoying the new male narrator. The narration style in book 2 is annoying.
