About this listen

The acclaimed biography of the early church's greatest evangelist, the Apostle Paul. Master storyteller John Pollock makes Paul and his amazing story freshly alive, so that you can know the greatest apostle much as Luke and Timothy did as they traveled with him. As you listen, you'll sense Paul's motives, his aims and priorities; what mattered to him; and what he was willing to die for.

The amount of research must have been considerable.

I really liked the sensitive manner in which the story was told. It gives a great insight into what might have happened.

beautiful

nice to hear an account if Paul's life that reads like a story - the way Scripture is used and threaded through can really bring the passages to life in a particular context.

Amazing Insight into the mission of Paul

By listening, over and over again, to this quality audiobook, we can gain a very rich understanding of the First Century church foundations in the context of Jewish opposition to the Way of Christ and to Roman and Greek cultural oppression of the early believers.

Paul and his fellow converts withstood fierce opposition yet continued to spread the Gospel throughout the World.

When Rabbi Saul became Paul, missionary to the Gentiles, he moved from persecutor to persecuted and suffered incredible physical torture and mental anguish up to his murder under Nero.

This book is a wonderful encouragement to us to maintain a commitment to Christ in the midst of this wealthy and hedonistic society.

Paul's biography

John Pollock does an excellent job of presenting Paul and contextualising his epistles. The character building and chronological sequence and the insights in Pollock's research makes the reader feel as if Paul is a close friend that they could identify with. My favourite part was the contrasting of Paul and Stephen in one of the opening chapters. Kirby has an easy listening voice and is easy to understand, but I felt he could have dramatised some parts for storytelling sakes.
